"Good things come in small packages"

January 31, 2013  |  By esternot

 |  Version: AeroSnap 0.61 beta

Pros

Works with XP or Vista

Rarely crashes

Small package size (<1MB)

Cons

No option to run app on startup, although a shortcut can be added to the Startup folder or it can be configured to run on startup through MSConfig

CNET package includes bloatware, so use custom installation option to bypass additional software installations

Summary

Nice little utility that works reasonably well given that Microsoft refused to release a backward-compatible Aero utility that allows one to easily split a screen vertically between two windows. Once a more stable version is released, I might consider paying for this software if it were to provide the option to easily align/split two windows horizontally, something that Windows 7's Aero Snap doesn't do.

"Very Very useful feature"

June 28, 2012  |  By teddushane

 |  Version: AeroSnap 0.61 beta

Pros

This tiny feature of Win 7 is very useful to display 2 side by side windows. Previously, one had to use "Tile Windows Vertically" from the right-click (context) menu of the Quick Launch toolbar. And that's AFTER you had to minimize all but the 2 windows you wished displayed.

Cons

Uses ~ 22 MB of memory. But note - having a system tray icon, it's easy to shut off to regain that memory.

"ok if you want that feature"

April 22, 2012  |  By jmcrate

 |  Version: AeroSnap 0.61 beta

Pros

My son thought it was the cats meow, but it got on my nerves

Cons

It misinterpreted my actions to think I wanted the programs I was working on go to half screen when I didn't then it took about three or four actions to get the dang window back to where I had it. The worst thing was that I could find no way to turn it off, or uninstall it, had to just delete files and hope I got it all.

Summary

It seems pointless, like a throwback to Win 3.11
It would be harmless if it could be turned off or even uninstalled.
It did not show up in Control Panel Add and Remove Programs and could not find it in Windows Manage Services and Applications.

"Just what I was looking for as an Add-on... Perfect!!!"

April 21, 2011  |  By dcracing1

 |  Version: AeroSnap 0.61 beta

Pros

This app/download worked like a charm. I was actually thinking about upgrading my desktop because of this function on Windows 7 and had to see if they had an application/software for it. Great!

Cons

None I could find so far, however I did notice that on my dated XP it doesn't always "Snap" perfectly like my "7" laptop all the time and have to "Snap" again.

Summary

Great software at a great price, i.e. ... FREE!

"two monitor setup"

August 03, 2010  |  By tomaszszewczykcadm

 |  Version: AeroSnap 0.61 beta

Pros

The idea is great enabling retrospectively enable a great Windows 7 feature on older system.

Cons

The only problem I found in delivery was the side snap did not work on a two monitor setup.

Summary

If they would incorporate their snap hot-key into the dual monitor setup support I think it would up the rating by another star now 3/5 because its decent but not great.

"Really Good!"

April 25, 2010  |  By sunburntfeet

 |  Version: AeroSnap 0.61 beta

Pros

Really helpful. Works like it says.

Cons

No serious cons, a few bugs, mentioned below, but I'm still using it daily and I'm sure the bugs will be worked out through its beta testing.

Summary

As with all betas it has a bug or two. When you you click the maximize button, you can not drag and "un-snap" it from full size, you have click the "restore" button. I'm not sure if I found the option to but I'd like to turn off the splash logo when I have the program start with windows. Like I said earlier, they could easily be fixed during beta, no big problems.

"Awesome little thingy!"

March 21, 2010  |  By wickitsB

 |  Version: AeroSnap 0.61 beta

Pros

No problems or crashes. Works just like it is supposed to work.

Cons

I wish the snap option could also "snap" windows horizontally.

Summary

Terrific!

"great so far on xp"

February 07, 2010  |  By jules141414

 |  Version: AeroSnap 0.61 beta

Pros

working great so far for a variety of windows. I set my margin to 2 pixels to avoid accidental snapping and it seems to snap and unsnap just like 7. Works good with a desktop extended on 2 monitors

Cons

Dragging to the window to the top re-sizes the window to fill the screen, without actually maximizing the window, so if you maximize your window in the regular way, you can't unsnap it.

Summary

try it
