For people who routinely work with password-protected PDF documents, an absent-minded slip can mean the difference between productivity and disaster. This software is aimed at computer users who have the right to open an encrypted PDF file, but have simply lost the password. It won't help if both the User and Master passwords are gone, but otherwise, it can help decrypt documents that would otherwise be inaccessible. The recovered documents can be edited, copied, or printed in the ordinary way. The trial version displays just one-tenth, or one page of a recovered document, but that's enough to see whether it might help. For anyone who is locked out of a critical PDF document, this software could be a valuable investment.Publisher's description
From ElcomSoft :Advanced PDF Password Recovery unlocks PDF documents and removes editing, printing and copying restrictions instantly. Get access to encrypted and password-protected PDF documents quickly and efficiently. The multi-threaded low-level code is optimized for modern multi-core PCs, ensuring the best performance. The program instantly removes all restrictions and unlocks the protected PDF file; if you cannot open a PDF file without knowing the password, you need the Professional edition, that also allows retrieving the "owner" and "user" passwords with brute-force and dictionary attacks. The unique Key Search Attack guarantees the recovery of PDF documents protected with 40-bit encryption in a matter of days. Removing JScript code, form fields and digital signatures is also an option. And the Enterprise edition adds the unique, patent-pending Thunder Tables technology that allows recovering "user" passwords in a minute's timeframe instead of days.
Version 4 adds "Thunder tables" (tm) technology, that reduce the time needed for guaranteed decryption of PDF files (with 40-bit encryption) from several days to just minutes.

Version: Advanced PDF Password Recovery 4
"Demo worked- full version works even better!"
Pros: It is fast
Cons: could be cheaper (I'm poor)
Summary: The demo worked, only 10% of the document, and that convinced me to go to the full version. I tried several other programs and they didn't work- one wanted the "Owner" password (if I remembered the owner password I wouldn't have this problem), and ... read more >>

Version: Advanced PDF Password Recovery 4
Pros: Didn't find any
Cons: It was unalbe to open even the simplest of PDF files I tried it on. I even broke out an older laptop I had with windows 98 on it (ugh) built a pdf with adobe 6.0, and it could not even open it! So uninstalled quickly. It was a complete waste of time.
Summary: If you wish, you can chance wasting your time, or if your just into downloading stuff to play with so you can clean your registry when you uninstal, then by all means, download it. They offer it for $49? Its worth that NOT to mess with it!

Version: Advanced PDF Password Recovery 4
Pros: Did not work.
Cons: Apparently, the protection of the file I tried to decrypt is not supported by this software.
Summary: Doesn't work on all files.
