Although we had to track down this free ad blocker after installation, we're pleased with how it works. Adblock instantly prevents annoying ads from appearing while you peruse the Web with your Firefox browser. Strangely, there's no indication of where the program's launcher is placed following installation. After much searching, we found it sitting in the Tools menu of our browser. A submenu list leads to a basic main window to modify what the program calls blockable elements, or the source address of a site and its category and node name. You also can add filters to block ads using wild cards.
We like that you can instantly block ads, page by page, using a hot-key combination. A white list is available to render the ads on specific pages or entire sites exempt from blocks. We weren't pleased with the detective work it took to find this application, but we discovered it's quite useful for controlling the content displayed on Web sites.

I downloaded ADBLOCK for one reason only: block those /$%?&* ANNOYING FLASHING ADS, expecially on game sites such as flyordie.com where I like to play chess sometimes (well I used to but the flashing ads hurt my eyes and drove me away). It does NOT succeed in blocking these ads. It asks for a URL but none is made available for the ad... if I block the window's URl I'll no longer have access to my gameboard. When right-clicking on block ad it should figure out the URL itself.
Cons
I do not know if the free version is just a scam to make you buy the pro version... but the free version is so poor that it does not make me want to pay for a pro version.

Pros
After adding this program, I love reading most websites. It blocks 80% of web advertising, and blogs, news, and other articles are so much nicer to read without ads. I love this program!
Cons
The only cons are that it doesn't block Flash based ads, and many smaller sites run their own ads, which aren't easy to block. Overall though, this is the best download I've added all year!
