Active Virtual Desktop handles pretty well, allowing you to manage your work space by creating virtual desktops, but its hot key feature isn't always reliable.
The simple tabbed interface is accessible via a system tray icon, and it's easy to add, set up, and navigate virtual desktops. You'll also be able to set different wallpaper and screen resolutions for each desktop, although password protection would've been a nice addition. We liked the option to make an application available in all desktops, and this was done easily through the Desktop Manager window. The program only allows nine desktops, but it offers several ways to move between them, including the manager window, hot keys, mouse clicks, and tray icons.
While most options navigated well among the desktops, it sometimes took a couple of tries to pull up the desired desktop. Oddly, we couldn't switch back to Desktop 1 from any other virtual desktop. Despite a few minor glitches, Active Virtual Desktop has a nice approach to desktop management that can help any busy user.
