Publisher's description of Active Desktop Calendar 5.99b
From XemiComputers:This fully customizable calendar features notes/appointments, tasks, alarms, and displays its data on your desktop through blending with existing wallpaper. You can organize your data in layers and share them with other people on a local network. The program can integrate with Outlook to show its appointments and tasks on the desktop. There are options for changing calendar icons, fonts, colors and type: one, two or three months displayed on the desktop. Text only version is also available. Recurrence patterns work for both notes/appointments and alarms. Through interactive desktop the program accepts direct clicks on dates, notes/appointments and tasks. Printing calendar data is easy, in monthly view or as a list with option to choose date range for printing notes/appointments. Desktop pictures option allows you to add some of your pictures to existing desktop background. CSV and iCal formats are supported for data import and export. The program includes world clock screen saver.
Version 5.99b supports iCal format for importing and exporting calendar data.

- "One killer calendar"
- Version reviewed: Active Desktop Calendar 5.99b
This feature-rich program places an unobtrusive calendar on your desktop. You can quickly access your tasks and see details of upcoming events by double-clicking the day or the sidebar. Active Desktop Calendar supports multiple users, using layers to store their profiles. You can connect to other people's calendars via LAN to see changes in their schedules, and you can have the application display your Outlook information. The utility doesn't consume much memory, especially considering all the cool stuff it does.
We did notice a few shortcomings in this generally excellent program. For example, though the window for adding a new note contains a subject line and a body field, only the subject-line text appears on the calendar and the sidebar. On the bright side, you can switch among several desktop images and set the program as the default screensaver, which will display several world clocks. The latest version adds support for exporting and importing files in the iCal calendar format. Overall, the functionality and design of Active Desktop Calendar make it useful for home and business users.

"Not as good as it was made out to be"
Pros: It does a good job of organisation, and intergrates well with the desktop
Cons: I dont think it looks as good as some have said it does. It also is let down when you open the program and see how the main program looks.
