Personal finance programs are a dime a dozen these days, so the bar is set pretty high when it comes to performance. AceMoney offers tools for creating and maintaining budgets, tracking investments, and even online banking. And while it successfully let us do all of the above, we found that it lacked protection for sensitive information.
The program's interface is very businesslike, and its simple, straightforward design makes the array of options easy to understand and navigate. Large commands at the top of the window let you toggle between seven categories, including accounts, portfolio, banks, payees, and reports. Although the data is presented in an easy to understand spreadsheet format, sample entries are included. A left-hand menu changes depending on which category is selected, and options are clearly labeled. With your portfolio, for example, you can opt to download the latest stock prices, or re-invest dividends. We were able to add banking and credit card information, and schedule bill payments with no problems, and we liked the calendar-style view of money in and out for the month. We also were able to quickly and easily view cash flow and transaction reports. We found a lot to like in AceMoney's simple approach, but we couldn't help feeling vulnerable entering data because the program isn't password protected and doesn't encrypt your private data.
AceMoney includes an online tutorial if needed, although the program's Help file should answer most questions. While AceMoney worked fine, we like to have total confidence that our data is secure. We suggest you look for a financial management program that keeps your private data private.

Version: AceMoney 3.9
"Superb beat the hell out of Quicken or MS Money"
Pros: This is no bloated, slow, program, that takes up way too much space on HD. No idiotic videos, and music.
This program is very easy to use, although if you are used to the Quicken works for example, you will need to learn to do things a little bit differently. Turns out it does almost everything much better, quicker and easier. Downloads on-line bank data using either QIF or OFX formats.
Fantastic deal for only $30 with unlimited no cost updates. I'd give it 10 stars.

Version: AceMoney 3.9
"Better than anything else I've tried"
Pros: This program is straight-forward and easy to use. I used it for the 30-day trial and then decided to buy Quicken instead, which was almost the same price and is supposedly a much better and more complete program, from the reviews I'd read. After less than 1 hour using Quicken and its bloated, ugly interface and lame sounds and effects, I deleted it in disgust and bought AceMoney. What a difference. It's missing some of the advanced features of Quicken, but it does what I need it to, and to me it's well worth the trade-off.
Cons: Though I prefer AceMoney to anything else I've tried, it still feels more like unsupported freeware than a $30 program. There are little glitches and bugs and a lot of simple features I would expect to find are absent. On the other hand, I haven't been able to find anything better (and believe me, I've looked) and I guess $30 isn't too bad. Especially compared to that sorry excuse for software that calls itself Quicken.

Version: AceMoney 3.9
Pros: I've tried other software programs, and I think this is the best, and easiest to use. Very userfriendly, and an attractive layout.
Cons: The only con is that you can't pull from your online bank accounts like Quicken.

Version: AceMoney 3.9
"Great for International Users"
Pros: Simple and user-friendly. AceMoney cuts to the real needs of personal finance management and is easy to use. I'm especially impressed with the foriegn exchange converter. I live in Jamaica but have a number of US accounts as well as Jamaican accounts. AceMoney is able to keep the accounts in their given currencies and create a total based on whichever currency I choose. You can put in the conversion rate youself.

Version: AceMoney 3.9
"Beats the HELL out of Excel for personal money management."
Pros: Easily keep track of multiple accounts (bank, credit, loan, investment), including simple one-step transfers of funds from one of your accounts to another. Allows you to categorize every expense or income; you can even split receipts. Instantly and automatically does all that icky math of balancing for you with every entered transaction. Chart generators allow you to look in-depth at your spending/income patterns over any time-frame you choose. The program has other functions I've not mentioned. If you're using Excel to keep track of your checking account, you are silly. Just silly.
Cons: Doesn't *directly* help you create and manage budgets, if you want that sort of thing. However, seeing the numerous ways of breaking down and looking at your transactions will be immensely helpful in managing your finances better.
