All things considered, this screensaver makes a fine way to see some of Europe's lesser-known sites from the comfort of your desk. Unlike many travel screensavers, this one refreshingly doesn't choose to focus on famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower. Instead, the program mainly displays good-quality images from all over the European countryside, with occasional shots of cities and villages. For instance, one photo shows a breathtaking view of the Swiss Alps, while another gives you a glimpse of a Norwegian sunset. As previously mentioned, image quality is just fine, although we did miss a soundtrack. To make up for this, Absolute Europe provides a rather strong feature set, letting you set the interval between images, apply different transition effects, and choose the style and location of the captions. Even though the trial period could be a bit longer, we think most travel buffs will find this screensaver at least worth downloading.
