AOL Radio may not do much more than stream Internet radio, but it doesn't come to the table empty handed. With plenty of Internet Radio stations from around the world to browse by musical genre and save as favorites, this streaming Internet Radio app goes beyond others to bring you extra programmed stations and the option to find songs you mark as favorite on iTunes or AOL Music. Sure, it's dowdy and lacks a search feature, but its support for local radio stations is what keeps us coming back. This is tremendously useful if you want to listen to citywide favorites in addition to international hits.

We were able to stream over a reliable Wi-Fi connection after the screen darkened, but some have reported inconsistencies here. We hope AOL models the interface along the lines of the free Shoutcast app, and introduces a search feature.

AOL Radio powered by CBS Radio features over 200 stations spanning more than 25 genres of music plus 150+ CBS Radio stations from across the U.S. iPhone and iPod touch users can access hundreds of free music stations plus a variety of popular terrestrial news, sports, and talk programming, including WFAN-AM and 1010 WINS in New York, KLSX and KROQ in Los Angeles, WXRT in Chicago, and WVEE in Atlanta. You can tag favorite stations and songs for easy access later. Automatically detects your location and provides the nearest CBS Radio station, along with a list of the rest of the terrestrial stations listed by city. Lists stations and songs you have listened to recently, with links to find the songs on iTunes or AOL Music. Album art and information displays on the Now Playing screen, with links to find on iTunes or AOL Music, or remember this song.
