It was a dark and stormy night when this Halloween screensaver was installed. 3D Things That Go Bump in the Night features evil skulls with glowing green eyes, less-evil skulls mounted on canes, and jack-o'-lanterns so fresh that a green leaf still hangs from the pumpkin stem. Witches' hats, bats, ghosts, and disembodied eyes float through as lightning flashes through clouds.

Low sound quality reduces the effect of otherwise fine music, an excerpt from Carl Orff's public-domain masterpiece "Carmina Burana." The new version gives you tons of customization options, such as changing the background tint. You also can change the soundtrack, though it's a bit of a process. Still, it's a nice, non-gruesome screensaver to get you in the Halloween mood.
