Learn the Latin building blocks of the English language.
Word Roots A1 software provides a solid foundation in Latin prefixes, roots, and suffixes - the building blocks of English. As students learn to apply these word elements, they improve their spelling, reading comprehension, and ability to decode unfamiliar words. In order to rebuild their city, students must complete three game sections. Section I - Learning Word Parts: Students match word elements with their meanings. Section II - Assembling Words from Parts: Given a definition, students must analyze various prefixes, roots, and suffixes then choose and assemble the correct elements to form a complete word that matches the definition. Section III - Applying Words in Context: Students select from a list of their newly assembled words in order to complete sentences. Decoy words are included for added challenge. After successfully completing all sections, your brilliant student archaeologists will have decoded the documents, rebuilt a beautiful 5th century city, and learned to spell and use hundreds of new words.
