Upgrade protection for the Windows 98 Dial-up network and VPN connections.

The DUN 1.4 upgrade for Windows 98 supports 128-bit encryption for both dial-up and PPTP connections and resolves situations in which PPTP connections would no longer transmit data. It includes all of the features from the earlier Windows 98 Security upgrade which strengthened password management and data encryption in PPTP connections. New features in DUN 1.4: 128-bit encryption is supported with the DUN 1.4 upgrade. The DUN 1.4 upgrade improves the stability of PPTP connections.

I accidentally uninstalled dial up networking on my computer. >>yes im stupid 4 that<< Well i have windows 98 v. 4.10 on my pc but i dont have the WinCd anymore. I cant connect to the internet!!. Will this program work for me. or what other should i get.

Download worked just fine for me. Yes it does prompt for your windows cd, not needed though . Like a previous poster said just look for the Windows/Options/Cabs & then click ok. You have to scroll down to find this as it is I think 3 folders down in the selection box. Downloaded fine but unfortunetly my isps server dont allow data encryption so I get error 645. Uninstalling was easy also, Just go to START,SETTINGS,CONTROL PANEL,ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS to delete the updated version, as Microsoft says your old version will still be intact after words. This is a great update if your isps servers allow data encryption, im sure it will slow down your connection maybe just a little but its well worth the 128 bit security it offers. Interesting though when you go to microsoft update site for windows this version doesnt even come up nor have others. Microsoft needs a much easier & better system of handling there patches, this is crazy! They have way to many patches all the time. & there update doesnt for some reason cover them all when they scan your pc. Microsoft get with it with SECURITY!

I had this upgrade on another microsoft application disk, before they placed it on this site, whic the cd version of 1.4 never provided an adverse connection to my systems, as I have 3 computer towers, 2 OEM 98 systems, and one 95b OSR2 OEM system, which in keeping these systems, believe it or not, more of the chicago 95 files and applications work better in 98 than 98 applications do, which I have utilized some of the older chicago Microsoft 95 based apps in 98, and it works quite well. As for the DUN upgrade, I basically run the 1.3 DUN upgrade, which is more stable than the upgrade to 1.4, and also include less problems in DUN connections. I recommend newer is not always better, and there are always bugs present in newer applications, for they are not tested in all systems, and everyone's applications vary, in lieu no one uses the exact same programming scheme in their processors, which I am currently seeking to install Office XP, along with my current Word Perfect Suite 8.0 Office applications, to provide both environments and knowledge of both programs in my operating system, and to view it's issues in a common environment. I have Linux on my new computer, but I have an older Win98 machine. I ran C-Net's Catch-Up, and this came up as a security update. I downloaded and installed it. It basically screwed up the entire operating system. I'll just switch over to Linux altogether. If you want to learn how to market products, look at Microsoft. If you want a product that works, look elsewhere.
