While this application does the job of scheduling shut-down functions, a Help file would have been nice. Vista Shutdown Timer requires no installation and has an easy-to-use, self-explanatory interface with options to perform shut-down actions at a user-specified time or after the input timer has expired. You can choose to log off, restart, shut down, or simply put your computer in hibernate or standby mode. Aside from scheduling the aforementioned tasks, Vista Shutdown Timer also can execute each function instantly or use the predefined timers in minutes. Both the timer and scheduling features worked well in our tests. One drawback is that the program stays on top of everything on your desktop. Minimizing it to the system tray is possible by right-clicking, but without a Help file, some users may have difficulty figuring that out. Though this program may not offer a lot of bells and whistles, it works fine and its free, making it attractive for many users.

Summary
AVG flagged as virus after I choose to update it. I clicked update and it created an exe. on my desktop that AVG immediately removed along with vista shutdown timer exe.

It helps me for late night shutdown of PC . while downloading. stuffs before power shutdown, While I sleep fearless.

we have to create shortcut an search for icon, no help for hybernate, sleep function

Does more than the name suggests for Windows 2000, XP (my system) and Vista:- Log Off, Restart, Standby, Hibernate and of course Shutdown. Choose time or set period for timer. Warning sound. All in English (some mentioned it was in German).

Zilch, zip, nada, nothing.

Much more than you'd expect versatility-wise, very handy indeed and malware free (of course with download.com & according to my Kaspersky 2010). Easily updated with 1 click. Just updated to v1.8.3a and now you can Wake Up PC at a set time with Stand By and Hibernate. Brilliant! I think you will donate when you use it. Works very well, but to this is an old version, which runs not well on Windows 7 I had to get the latest version (1.8.2) using the online update. But now it works very well on Windows 7 and supports custom skins now.

I love it. Its great. Does what its supposed to do. Shuts off your computer after you go to sleep.
Cons
I like to listen to the old time radio mysteries at night when I go to bed -until I go to sleep. After I fall asleep, the Vista Shutdown Timer shuts off my computer. It works on Windows XP also.
