Measure your processor and GPU core temperature.

TThrottle measures the processor core temperature, GPU temperature, and displays it in a graphic. Additionally you can reduce the amount of time a program uses to reduce the processor/gpu temperature. It was initially build to limit the time BOINC programs use. This in order to keep the temperature and the fan noise in check. Or make the computer less sluggish. You can make a list of programs, if one of the programs becomes active these programs are used to keep the temperature below a user set value.

dosnt work on my notebook with windows XP Pro.locked up froze,thought id have to reinstall OS.got it to come back but still have a driver conflict.

It gives you an accurate temperature readout of the CPU and GPU. It displays it in a little mini-window (about 3/4" x 1/4") that stays on top of other windows. You can stick it anywhere on the screen so it does ever get in the way. Continued......
Cons
Has many features that I don't really need or even know if they work. Not really a con.

It gives you an accurate temperature readout of the CPU and GPU. It displays it in a little mini-window (about 3/4" x 1/4") that stays on top of other windows. You can stick it anywhere on the screen so it does ever get in the way. It has numerous setting that you can set to have the program sound an alarm, shutdown the PC, reboot, Throttle, or even email you that your PC is running hot. I set it to alarm at 60'C and it sounded like a smoke detector!. It only beeps for a few second and then takes a little time off before it alarms again, thankfully.
