  downloaded and ran it and it didn't find anything that my free spybot found a combination of the free anti spyware util. would do just as good a job

  There are so many registry cleaners on the market today it's getting harder to rate which are 5 star , 4 star, 3 star, or just plain suck! System TuneUp worked good on my Vista, have not tried it on my XP yet. I tried every feature it has, the junk file remover,the history eraser, the registry cleaner, the startup manager, program uninstaller, file deleter, disk anaysis, and one-click system cleanup. I let it do it's own thing, didn't check to see if it was deleting any valid entries, I figured I could fix anything it screwed up. System TuneUp did just fine, safely removed 1/2 a gig of junk, fixed the errors it found, and freed up some disk space. The price,$29.95, is in the ball bark for a registry cleaner with these type of features. The scan and removal speed is average and I was impressed with the 30 day FULL working trial of System TuneUp.

  It will make you reboot to fix the errors, and it will try to place itself in your startup. I don't like ANYTHING in my startup except my AV and firewall

  As a new Vista user, I wanted to make sure my registry was clean and that my junk files were deleted quickly and easily. Norton SystemWorks 07 won't be migrating to Vista (as far as I know), so I needed something to keep me running smoothly. This program does what it promises, and is compatible with Vista for the most part. They also do a decent job of making the user interface fit in with the Vista layout. I though the Cookie Manager was a nice touch, because you can save certain cookies that actually improve your web experience (like for email and banking) and delete all the others.

  Cons

  Be very careful what you delete, and always back things up. No program like this should be used by beginners without the proper research. You could really cripple your system. I've only noticed two functional errors so far. One, it always leaves 2-4 registry errors uncorrected. Two, it stops responding when you try to erase some of your history files in the "Misc." section. I think a disk defragmenter (that works better than the Windows version) as well as a registry defragmenter might be a nice touch for this program.
