Check for spam automatically each time you download your e-mails.
Spamnix for Eudora is a plug-in for Qualcomm Eudora that blocks unwanted spam email. Once you install it, it automatically runs whenever Eudora runs.Spamnix checks for spam automatically each time you download mail. Spamnix also uses Bayesian filtering, a statistical machine-learning technique that analyzes the words in sample training spam and non-spam messages and uses that information to identify which category new messages belong in. Spamnix's Bayesian system can be trained either on individual messages or entire mailboxes at a time. Once trained, Spamnix becomes even more accurate at detecting what you consider spam.
Spanmix works and the developer is very responsive

Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have been using Spamnix since December 12, 2002.
I first used it on Windows 2000 and now on Mac OS 10.4.3.
I have never had problems installing the software. It has always installed easily and works very well.
I have also found Barry (the developer) to be very responsive.
Spamnix is an excellentadd-on to Eudora and worth the cost.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Spamnix is now working for me in Eudora 6.2.3, OS X 10.4.3 without a hitch (with some preliminary training it's up to 90% in a day). The author was very responsive to my complaint and with some files he asked me to send found the problem and fixed it.

Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I'm still trying to get Eudora to launch after the Spamnix install, using 10.4.4 8G14. Clearly others running Tiger 10.4.3 are having the same problems. New Eudora prefs does not fix; I've found a couple of Spamnix components and tossed them, still no good. How much time will I have wasted getting my e-mail back? Too early to tell.
Even if the developer claims to fix it, I will never try it again.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have alpha-tested Spamnix 3.x; the current version 3.0.11 has gone several adjustments and improvements, before reaching beta release.
It uses a new algorithm that has increased its filtering capabilities. This capability gets better with every "training" session.
There were a few incompatibilities that were promptly and thoroughly solved by the author.
Mac OS X 10.3.7, Eudora 6.2.1 paid mode.
Works great!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I'm running Spamnix with Eudora 6, can't say who is getting first crack but typically Eudora's built-in junk folder has 2-3, Spamnix has 15-20. I particularly like the transparent way you can create Spamnix rules to block/allow e-mail from specific domains rather than just tagging as is or isn't junk and hoping for the best. A nice feature is the use of * wildcards, so you can block spam from variants on a domain name or even entire countries if you wish. The author has responded right away to the several e-mails I've sent

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've paid for too many spam filters that are too intrusive upon my time. The built-in filter in Eudora is fine, but requires training. Augmenting it with Spamnix works just great. (I used Spamnix before Eudora 6 as well.) Spamnix is NOT a separate program; doesn't look at my email while on the server and provides a surprisingly good job of filtering out junk.
Even after buying the paid version of Eudora 6, I'm keeping Spamnix around, because it works so well, and because the developer stays on top of any issues.

Because Spamnix as yet to fail to capture any Spam missed by Eudora's built-in toll, and since Eudora's one does the same for Spamnix, they easily compliment each other in having kept my In-Box Spam free for the last three months. =)

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Spaminix is pretty good, far from perfect, but really does reduces junk mail.
In two weeks, Spaminix has caught 2,000 junk spam. No false positives. About 250 pieces of junk were received in either my inbox. That's a 8-1 ratio for spaminix, not perfect, but takes an unmanageable 140 spams/day down to 20 per day in the in-box.
At home I am trying it out also, and it's doesn't catch nearly as much spam, closer to 5-1 ratio. I just changed the threshold to 3.5 to see how it works out.
I tried out Spamfire and it crashed a lot and just didn't work. I will probably give SpamSieve another shot.
Spamnix is a great program, but a bit too late.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Spamnix is a great program. Installs easily and works better and more easily than any Eudora spam product I've tried (specifically E-mail Magician). I wish it had come out several years ago.
Unfortunately for the author, Eudora's next version, a beta of which is out now, includes a junkmail filter that works almost as well. I'd pay a bit extra to get Spamnix's elegance, but $30 is too much compared to a pretty good free alternative.
Kudos to the author though for an excellent product. Eudora should buy Spamnix and incorporate it.
