• great app ...except for the low-res, VGA-like quality

  Pros

  everything is great, good design, good functionality. They just had to screw it up big time with the poor resolution. I suppose this works ok with live video like Skype or Messenger, good effects. Then again, it slices resolution in HALF. it might have gimmick factor but it fades in a matter of hours. then you're left with a shitty camera app.

  Cons

  The iSight camera app on every mac takes photos in HD, 1280x720. This iGlasses app takes them at 640x480, this is like downgrading an iMac's webcam, like going back to 5 years ago when all we had was VGA. It defeats every good aspect of the app. Even for video, resolution gets sliced, so it's actually even poorer than VGA.

  Summary

  I wanted to like this app, it has so much going for it but they screwed up the resolution. Weather it is Ecamm's fault or Apple's for not letting the APIs go beyond Standard res, it is very disappointing that the developer doesn't state this problematic detail on their site, it's misleading and annoying. I had to go through the trouble of researching why iGlasses photos had such poor quality. What's worse is that this app used to cost $10 and now it costs $20, dunno why but it's not worth it.

  resets camera resolution to really poor

  First, just visiting the website for the update froze my firefox to the point I had to hard boot the whole computer. When I did manage to download the update, it actually changed the camera resolution from a nice 720P high def to a crappy 640X480 SD and even Apple has no idea how to fix it. The company is ignoring my emails and wont help me fix it.

  Pros

  Ability to tweak your video with Brightness, Colorization, Saturation, Hue Etc.. My favorites are: Zoom (digital of course), Mirror, Rotate, Animate Transition.

  Cons

  It could use a "universal" default button, resetting all changes, albeit each individual function has a default button, however, there being fifteen or more "functions," follow?

  Summary

  The Achilles Heel of a built in digital lens (what can you do) at least for me. So any control is an added bonus. But I tell you, between you and me - what would be SOOOOO SWEET :) if they would fix things so I could "easily" take a shot of "TEXT." I think the flash washes out the page and it's hard to frame up the shot (having to look, from behind the book) and then finally, I guess the clarity of the shot would be the final issue. So for now I've been using a hand-held camera (with image stabilization & macro settings, but most of all an EYE FI SD card, and a program called Prizmo). But to do all that with the built in camera, WOW... :)

  I could not get iGlasses to work with any of my cameras, whether built in iSight or Logitech Vision or Hue. USB or Firewire,

  Program installs, loads and runs as a component of. for example Quicktime, but the command box has no effect on the captured video or any video input or output. I should ask for my $10 back.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Dec 11, 2010<p/>UNinstalled iGlasses and zapped all of the files, REdownloaded, REinstalled, REpeated all of the results form the first and second tries, Does not work AT ALL on my iMac or my new mini either. I'll keep trying, just to honor the $10 I seem to have wasted.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I find iGlasses to be an incredibly useful add-on for use with my onboard and clip-on iSight cameras. It allows you to refine the image you portray in fine detail: lighting, size, color saturation, etc. Everything. And it requires absolutely no training. iGlasses and its sibling application, Call Recorder, make my Skype subscription tremendously versatile and useful. They're a great combination and they won't set you back a whole lot. Great stuff.

No problems, no conflicts, rock-solid, and my only request for tech support was answered within 10 minutes. The reply was clear, concise, and resolved the (operator) error. Even the cost is a bargain; for sure I have paid much more for much less. Bravo and 5 stars from me!

I just bought a intel iMac 24" and wasn't happy with the low quality/clarity of the isight but now it have total control of the images i take using iChat or Photobooth. Apple should buy these guys up! If your debating on getting this app then debate no more. You will love it. You could waste the $9 on lunch or you could buy something that will make you look better. Its better to look good than feel good!
