This release incorporates Macintosh support for the QuickCam Pro 4000, QuickCam Zoom, QuickCam For Notebooks Pro, and QuickCam Orbit/Sphere only. With a QuickCam, you can now add live video to Yahoo! Messenger, for face-to-face chats on your Mac! If you want create pictures and videos for use with Apple's iLife applications, download a capture application such as BTV and BTV Pro.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Logitech's website was last updated for this product 2 years ago, which is unacceptable - and so is their non-existent technical support. You can get further advice by calling them at (702) 269-3457, on your dime of course. This was a Christmas gift that I have yet to use. If I'd known it was going to be so challenging to find software to run the thing, I would have returned the product immediately. They claim it is OSX compatible but I guess that was applicable 2 years ago.

The picture quality is decent, though. When is Logitech going to release an update? I don't want to spend another $80 on a camera if this one is obsolete.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I just got a Logitech Quickcam Messenger as a gift. It came with Quickcam 8.0 drivers. Clearly labeled on the CD "Mac OS X". Inserted the CD, 2 folders, 1 for OS 10.1.x and the other for OS 10.2.x, I chose the latter. After install, restarted. Opened the Quickcapture application and got the following message: "This application requires a supported camera". So I quit the program, attached the camera, and restarted the program. Same result. Tried downloading the newer driver. No. Tried trashing the app pref file. No. Tried repairing permissions. No. Tried the IOXperts driver. Said it couldn't find a supported camera. Camera shows up on the USB bus. Here's the message from System Profiler: LogitechQuickCam: Version: 1.0.4 Last Modified: 3/26/03 10:03 PM Get Info String: 1.0.4 Ã‚Â© 2002 IOXperts, Inc. This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I'm happy. I use my LogiTech Notebook Pro with my PowerBook G4 and my sister with her iBook G3 400 MHz. With iChatCAMUsb we can get 10+ picts/sec in a video conference across the atlantic. Not bad...not bad at all! So forget all the negative feedback. They really work fine under 10.3.x. Just *don't* turn on Face tracking etc. That can cause chaos in iChat. Other than that...great :) /Sune, Denmark

However, it seems iChat AV works only with Firewire cameras, not the QuickCamÃ‚Â® Pro 4000 which is USB. Does anyone know any workarounds to use USB cameras with iChat AV?

Couldn't find a way to zoom (well, didn't search hard), but who cares - it works fine otherwise. Good frame-rate, ok picture quality. Simple Troubleshooting: Get the BTV app. if you wanna check if there is signal. Get iChatUSBCam for iChat video-conferencing. /S.

Download Yahoo Messenger, that piece of .... nobody wants to use. That's about it. How this product gained Built for Mac OS X label? One star because it's not crashing my computer.
iMovie trouble

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Downloaded this driver and installed but iMovie failed to recognize the camera. I contacted Logitech - I must say - tech support answered immediately and was as friendly and helpful as they could be. However, I was told that OS X support is so new that no tech support documents are available to the reps. A supervisor told my tech support rep that iMovie (and apparently that includes the v 3.03 updater just released) and QuickCam are not working together at this time, for reasons not explained. Per Logitech's recommendation, I dowloaded a demo of BTV and the driver appears to work very well. Haven't figured out how to make any of this work with Yahoo Instant Messenger, though. Suggestions welcome.
