Stay up-to-date with near real time images and videos of the sun with solar viewer.

With Solar Viewer for Windows 8 select the solar image you would like to view on your Live Tile. The Tile image will automatically update to the most recent Sun image. Changes in the sun's magnetic field can cause solar flares and coronal mass ejections. If large enough and directed at Earth it could potentially cause havoc on our planet in the form of severe weather or mass energy failure.
