SiSoftware Sandra provides a robust package of diagnostic tools for testing your system and teasing out its problems--or potential headaches.

This download launches a cheerfully designed interface with an array of colorful--one might even say sprightly--icons for each of its tools. Its arrangement of tools was nicely categorized for the user's benefit: Computer Maintenance, Module Types (Benchmarks, Hardware, Software, Support), and Program Maintenance. Across the top of the window are tabs for each category that match the icons, and each tab provides access to a set of focused tools. We were very pleased with SiSoftware Sandra's performance during our tests. We liked that we could choose from a thorough list of options of items for tests--less robust packages simply run their diagnostics without informing the user just what is getting tested or how. Novices may be in the dark about some of the particulars listed by the app's option boxes, but experienced users will appreciate the thoroughness. Thanks to these option lists, we were able to pinpoint devices, peripherals, and processes for testing; we didn't have to wait for the tool to run a complete test through our entire system. We also liked the benchmarking and reporting features, which are required for anyone interested in comparing performance over time or developing trending reports.

For those running SiSoftware Sandra from a server for network diagnostics, the 75-module limit for the trial version may seem inadequate. However, the price is nice for the robust feature set provided by this toolbox.

Tried eval and regretted it on every level

I'm not too sure....all benchmark tools disappeared after first usage, no way of gauging the positive aspects

-benchmark tools disappeared after one benchmark and never came back. -when it worked it wasn't that good. -I was surveying the benchmark with firewall and tracer program and it was accessing alot of really sensitive areas of the OS. It even had my windows login info (without my consent) and offered to use that to setup my sisoftware account.

- Needed to run two benchmarks before and after I ran some updates on Windows 7 to see the impact of windows updates. I ran the first benchmark. Came back after the updates and all the tools were gone. No matter how I configured or reinstalled it, those tools weren't there anymore. Between the installation benchmark and trying to troubleshoot the application, I wasted a good 3 hours and didn't even accomplish the objective for which I installed this software. - I was surveying the benchmark with firewall and tracer program and it was accessing alot of really sensitive areas of the OS. It even had my windows login info (without my consent) and offered to use my windows credentials to setup my sisoftware account. Now there are plenty of legitimate reasons for a benchmark utility to do this stuff (minus login info snooping) but the fact of the matter is that I don't really know this company and I don't know how much I would trust with the guts and inner workings of my OS during that hour where the benchmark is monopolizing all the resources of my PC. That's not really their fault but I just don't know them enough to really trust them. When I uninstalled it, it offered to sell me the full product. When I declined, it offered me the product for free should I undertake one of its promotions. All in all, I was pretty creeped out by them. I had done a backup of my OS before installing their product, so I rebooted into clonezilla and did a total system restore.

Pros
It keeps you from using your computer for 20 minutes so you can mow the lawn.

This whole thing is incomprehensible. I don't know what I'm trying to accomplish, what I'm running, and I don't understand the results. The charts are whacked. I'm not sure when I'm looking at my results of someone elses. And I don't understand how to navigate to get back to the useful information that I just accidentally stumbles across.

The Sandra program itself is a wonderful program that helped me diagnose an overheating problem in my computer a while ago. If this review was ONLY for the Sandra program, it would get 4 stars.
Cons
The download is LOADED with adware. The downloader asks you if you'd like to install 'express' (which comes with several bundled adware programs) or 'custom' (which I selected and chose to download ONLY the Sandra program) The THREE different EULA's that popped up during the install were not for the Sandra program, but for "special offers" of different adware, I declined all of them, and TWO separate adware programs were still added to my computer without my permission or direction.
