Developer’s Description

View the structure of directories and files on your hard drive.

SequoiaView is a disk browsing tool based on the principle of treemaps, with one unique feature added, namely Cushion Treemaps, invented by Jack van Wijk. The principle is simple: each time a rectangle is subdivided, ridges are added. The result is a pattern of hierarchical cushions that show the structure in the directories and files. The user can set the height of the ridges as well as using lower ridges for deeper nested levels, offering a choice between displaying global information (high level directories) or detailed info such as individual files. The user can also choose between the original cushions and the squarified cushions.

Pros

Allows user to see comparable size of files via graphics just as to what is on the system. User specific.

One con. It is slow to bring up the graphics. (as if it is a con), really, NONE.

Have been using this program for years, found it on a disk in the 90's. And every time I have moved to a new Deck, I have gotten the latest version. I am very happy with this program. I can see the files in a good representation. I like the pillowed version. I can also change the color scheme to my desired specifications. This program also can show me what is taking up the most memory. Check this one out. If you do not like it you can remove it, but I feel you will be like me, and keep on using it over the years.
Absolutely necessary. Still using with Win7-64.

Pros
Maps out all files on a particular drive graphically using boxes. Bigger the box, the bigger the file. Great for finding wasted space. Prog is 6 years old but still works great even with 64bit Win-7.
Cons
Mapping out a large drive can seem to take forever even on a fast PC (5-10 minutes). Program starts in a window (even if you tell it to start Maximized, it resizes the window to about 1/4 the screen). Clicking the Maximize button the first time then shrinks the window even smaller. You must Maximize a second time to get it full screen. Minor annoyances for a free program, but annoying non-the-less.

Must-have tool for any tuner/tweaker.

Thorough, informative, helpful. Easy to right-click on files to get more info. Strangely enough, it's kinda pretty to look at.

Pros
I absolutely love sequoia view and have put it on every computer I own. It finds things that would take a while to hunt down and displays them as a piece of art. Gray boxes show you what files are the largest and tells you where they are.
Cons
None, I have an SSD and I am not sure if I am causing harm by running it. I do have TRIM support so I think I'm in the clear.

Pros
For displaying every file on your drives in an easy to use geometric view, I'm still amazed how fast it can display every file compared to any desktop search. Yet it's a tiny file that takes a second to install.

Windows is particularly poor at identifying which files are consuming most disk space. This product represents your files as differently sized 'boxes', allowing you to identify the largest ones and browse straight to their folders
Cons
I like everything about this product - Microsoft should include is as part of their baseline utilities.

- Quick visual view of your drive conents - Can be separated by drives and directories - Color mapping makes assesment of space even easier - "Boxes" arranged in groups according to directories (trees) - Small, quick and easy install
Cons
- GUI is a bit outdated (but honestly, who cares?)
Summary
This is a no-frills, no-nonsense utility that allows you to see where your hard drive space is allocated. I've used it on many client's machines when they could not figure out why their HD space was low, even after using standard clean-up utilities. I install SequoiaView and we are able to almost immediately identify problem files and directories (folders) that can be trimmed down, moved and/or backed up to portable media. I would HIGHLY recommend this software - especially since it has no problems with Vista 64 (tested and works perfectly).
