  While only having used this for a couple of weeks so far, as a legislative professional, I mostly need text comparison (as opposed to the letter-by-letter comparison that some coders prefer). So far this has worked as advertised. Clean, fast, inexpensive, I have not yet found a down side.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Oct 31, 2013<p/>My only cautionary note is that I have found that occasionally the program misaligns certain files, creating virtual lines where there needn't be any. The problem persists despite running various options. However, since the program allows manual editing of the side-by-side results files, there is a way to overcome this limitation.

  I haven't had a single issue.

  We use this application to keep our settings consistent between development and production in our Oracle EPM environment, in addition to using it to keep our automatons for all our other systems in sync with updates. Best application bar none if you plan to work on files that have to be scattered all over but need maintenance.

  Very simple, easy to use and does a great job of comparing files - line by line - which is what I most needed.

  Cons

  It does NOT compare folders, only generates some kind of report - so it claims - but I haven't been able to get that function to work. Unfortunately I didn't realize its limitations until after I had purchased it.

  Summary

  Very disappointing to find the program unable to compare folders. I am here at download.com to download WinMerge - a freebie - that compares BOTH files AND folders. If all you need to compare is files this is a nice application, but not worth the $ when a free program outperforms it and the other similar shareware programs are more comprehensive.
