In spite of a few minor oversights, this free program works well for scheduling automated tasks. The user-friendly interface prominently displays Rs Somnifero's major features, all of which can be scheduled for certain times. For instance, you can have the program shut down your PC, lock the workstation, launch a screensaver, open a program or file, or close an application. Tasks can be automated at a designated time; after a certain number of hours, minutes, or seconds have expired; or at regular intervals. The program also lets you specify that only a certain amount of CPU power be used and displays a graphical chart of your CPU usage. Rs Somnifero' can take screenshots at periodic intervals, but since it lacks password protection, you can't use it to control how long other folks use your PC. Users who want to automate their own simple tasks will find Rs Somnifero a welcome addition because of its ease of use and lack of a price tag.

Easy, Intuitive, and dial-up friendly
mush21August 6, 2010
Pros
-Many Options -Extremely easy to use interface -Disconnected dial-up properly (unlike other similar progs)
Cons
nothing at all
Summary
I use it for dial-up. I download files at night and I can set it to disconnect in the morning just before I get up, thus freeing the phone line. I've tried many automation type progs for dial up and this was the only one that worked perfectly.
Great little utility

Pros
Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Some of the earlier negative reviews (from 2005) seem to be for an out of date version. The current version does not seem to have any problem forcing the computer to exit all running programs and shut down.
Cons
It has a funny name ;-)
Summary
Awesome - does what it says

Pros
Great program to use for automation of basic events like turning off the monitor, shut down/restart the computer, start or close application at a specific time. I use it to make the computer shut down if I fall asleep watching a movie. (Well the computer doesn't shut down when I fall asleep but when the movie ends... maybe thats a feature for the next version.)
Cons
Summary
Uh, there are 24 hours in a day.

Pros
Interface isn't bad. Gives various options (shutdown, reboot, hibernate...etc)
Cons
Does NOT allow you to determine whether the scheduled time is for AM or PM. Without that, it's basically inefficient.
Summary
Be careful..............

Pros
Sometimes it won't turn off your computer. Most of the times when its shutting off, some of the program that you have on might want a response from you. That's why sometimes you will see a message "This program is waiting for you to respond. End Now." That message will stay there until you come back to click on "End Now." By then you would be at the other side of the world and your computer will still be on. Be careful on how you use this program.
