This application replaces the boring command window with a multipane dialog box full of extra information but doesn't adequately explain command usage. PromptPal's easy-to-understand interface features a dual-pane window, allowing the user to view command results in the second pane.

The status bar quickly displays options as the command is entered. The program operates either as the traditional Windows command prompt or as a Run box replacement. Those who rarely use the command prompt will appreciate the program's suggestion function. Type the first letter of a command and a drop-down list appears, allowing you to simply select the command. The Command Info wizard easily adds, edits and removes available commands.

Despite its ease of use, PromptPal is not for command-line novices, as it doesn't explain why and when commands are used. However, command-line experts will appreciate PromptPal's usability, interface and command customization. Everyone who needs to use the command line on occasion will find PromptPal a great help.

More than just a user-friendly DOS prompt

Pros
I had a corrupt file on my desktop that I could not delete through dos because it was some 50+ characters long -I didn't name it- and dos would crash when it tried to delete it. Furthermore, the *- wild card symbol didn't work as well. <p> <p>This app had no character length limitations and deleted the corrupt file. <p>Just to test it, I created a mock text file with a ridiculously long name. The *- wild card symbol in windows dos couldn't handle it, but again it worked with this app. Summary: this thing is too cool.
Cons
Works a bit like frontpage and tries to guess the command you want. You can just delete the commands to solve that.
