This application performs basic hardware diagnostic tests, but is designed for advanced users. PC-Scope Diagnostic Self-Booting Software runs in a special operating system without booting into the computer's OS. The interface is basic with an emphasis on information rather than design. The application quickly identifies basic system information such as processor, memory, hard drive, and graphics adapter. It tests CPU, video and sound, and select motherboard components such as PCI slots, CMOS, and certain plug-and-play components. Some of the tests are disabled in the demo version, not all results are well explained, and the information gleaned is not for novices. Despite its limits, system administrators and advanced users will find this application beneficial for finding hardware problems.
