While NetDog does block some harmful sites, its patchy implementation leaves a lot to be desired.

Basically, the app is a "smart" blacklist that comes with many sites and keywords preblocked and allows you to add or remove others as you see fit. There's also a white list of "always allowed" sites. Interestingly, it will allow some sites that talk about the human body in scientific terms, unless you block them explicitly. Unfortunately, the "smart" blacklist didn't block about one-quarter of the sites we tested that we thought should be blocked, making the usefulness of the feature dubious at best. The "full" blocker functioned much better, allowing nothing of a questionable nature to show up.

The interface is a one-panel job, with all the options front-and-center and password-protected. Since the app is so simple, it would benefit from a less-compact menu, but what's there does the job decently enough. If all you need is a Web site blocker, this free application is it, but you can certainly find these limited features and a lot more in other parental-control utilities.

It's filtering was passable but not very good.
Cons
Blocked itunes Store and eventually my entire net connection on that computer. When I tried to uninstall the password didn't work. Customer Service then said they couldn't help me unless I purchased the software. What? I have to purchase it to uninstall it so my computer will work? What?
Summary
Terrible software and customer service that extorts money from you to uninstall their own p.o.s. software. Isn't that criminal? Avoid Netdog like the plague.

Pros
My credit card company credited my account after trying several (6) times to get some help because Netdogsoft didn't work.
Cons
No customer or technical support. No phone # to call. All communication must be done by email. The only time I heard from Netdogsoft was to informed me of their "NO REFUND" policy.
Summary
Even though I was credited by my credit card company for the purchase of Netdogsoft, they still got to keep $25 for doing nothing at all. The company that handles their orders tried to help me by emailing the author of Netdogsoft but to no avail. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT YOU'RE STUCK WITH NO RECOURSE.

Basically, i initially thought this software was ok and even paid for the full version but that was a huge mistake. The problems mounted afterwards with a huge drop in broadband download speed and the filters inability to stop porn on tube websites like youtube etc. Updating the software is laughable as by doing so it overides the password!! Also, after updating everything appears totally unchanged with no improvement whatsoever. The sum up... an ancient piece of software which may have been acceptable as freeware 5 years ago but now it is as good as useless. I have removed it from my pc. Learn from my mistake and AVOID AVOID AVOID

This appears to be the answer but it isn't. It has all the makings oi a great bit of software but the faults are too great and too many to recommend it. If it had a proper update with some more features then it may be ok. But for £20 it is best avoided. Sadly, I thought it seemed ok initially and paid for the licence within hours only to realise that it's riddled with faults. Throughout the internet it is advertised as 'free' or 'freeware' but it is limited to 30days use then you have to pay. Basically very disappointed and have now uninstalled....

Downloaded this software with high hopes. All you have to do is click refresh and blocked content comes right up 100% of the time. I even blocked ALL sites but one, just to see if it could handle that much, it could not.

It doesn't work.It totally did not block anything at all. Customer Support is non-existent. All you do is say the product isnt working in these areas and you get NO RESPONSE AT ALL. Terrible.

netdog works well and has an easy to use interface, It is light and did not slow down my pc but....

... it can be pretty east to get around - all a person has to do is re-download another copy of the software, unpack it and it will overwrite the previous download.
