Editors’ Review
Although this comprehenisve privacy tool scores big points on most fronts, a couple of performance and stability issues keep it from earning our highest accolades. When you launch TracksCleaner, you'll see a modern-looking, well-organized interface that displays all the program's main features and settings in a scrollable list. The Wipe Now icons offers checkboxes for scrubbing traces from certain areas of the Windows system, Internet Explorer, and a few commonly used programs. But that's just the tip of the iceberg; the next icon down lets you browse drop-down menus for selecting among a large amount of alternative browsers, toolbars, IM apps, P2P clients, multimedia programs, and download managers that you want to clean.
If that weren't enough, TracksCleaner lets you schedule cleaning sessions, view reports, and securely shred files. Our problems came when we tried to use the latter feature. In multiple instances using different algorithms, the program froze up and never deleted our files. In the end, we had to disable it via the Task Manager. Nevertheless, since this program offers just about every necessary feature for leaving no trace, it still comes recommended.
