HARDiNFO 2005 Professional's well-designed interface is organized into seven main categories, including System, Peripherals, and Devices. Each section offers multiple subcategories, and information is neatly displayed within each area. The program allows you to generate reports for each section and save them in text or HTML files, although the demo version won't display the full report. HARDiNFO 2005 Professional also displays running processes and Windows services, and provides access to system tools like the Registry Editor.

While the information-gathering process wasn't lightning-quick, the wait time was acceptable, especially with the details the application provides. The program also allows you to test essential components, including the CPU, hard disk, display, and network connection. Results are displayed in clear, simple graphs, and you can compare your computer's test results to other system benchmark results. Intermediate to advanced users will appreciate the detailed system information that HARDiNFO 2005 Professional provides.

Pros
It probably works OK but as its name suggests "HardInfo", it's very hard to read and concentrate! :)
Cons
Very poor choice of font sizes, colors, and layout makes reading the information very difficult and tiring. It was so bad that my focus was totally distorted and I couldn't concentrate on any part of the screen. I lasted about 5 minutes trying to get used to the horrid interface but I couldn't take it any more.
Summary
It's a shame the author/s made horrible decisions with respect to the programs' appearance.

Pros
It provides lots of detail in a well thought out design that allows easy access to all of the settings, without a steep learning curve. It also is truly interactive, and you can even save your test results within the program. I found this last a true bonus when trying to speed up my system, where I could real-world test my drives consistently.
Cons
The only con I have found is that it doesn't work on my Dell D630 laptop, which may pre-date the program (the laptop is around 6 years old). Every time I try to run it on my old Dell, it crashes the program.

Lets go to free software 101 Reviewer One-First-The Add-Ons to which you are referring are not included in HardInfo. They Are included in the CNet Download Installer. Second-You have the option to use the Direct Download link to bypass the Download Installer completely. Third- If you use the Download Installer you do have the option to DECLINE all Add-Ons. Reviewer Two- I gaurantee that you use Zone Alarm Firewall. Zone Alarm will not let any software install on your computer from CNet. If you find a software you would like to try from CNet just bookmark the page, Right-click on the Zone Alarm icon down by the clock and click EXIT. Let Zone Alarm Close your browser, Open it up again, go to the bookmarked paged and download. You know you did it right when the downloaded file has an icon of a little computer and a blue circle with a small i in it.

after carefully installing (because if you are not careful, the program will install all kinds of "coupons", "tool bars", etc) the product produced an error message immediately upon launch. I repaired the installation, and same issue. Cannot recommend this product at all.

Nice online benchmark comparsions The UI is amazing for a sysinfo tool The CPU benchmark is very accurate, also the memory card benchmark does a good job.
Cons
I hope to see a wifi monitor in the future included in this tool. When it starts it crashes on some PCs, but they have released an update which seems to solve this problem.
Summary
excellent all in one benchmark tool, but I would like to see some improvements in the online benchmark comparsions.

Bombs out on first test
Summary
After install it runs a test which begins by detecting hardware. I have a standard Sony Laptop about 2 years old. When the programs gets to detecting monitor it bombs out and stops. Cannot get past that point. Running Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit.

I cant get tit load load up without crashing up at stops when it tries to read my monitor, i had to change the rez. to finish downloading, but it doesn't get past the opening it just crashes and windows says it will inform me if it finds a fix.. I have a 32 inch Magnavox I hooked up my EAH 5550 via HDMI Im getting a new ASUS monitor today so who knows I might try it then.

HardInfo just hangs

Pros
None; it does show your main hardware data, but so does Windows in the pc properties.
Cons
It Hangs on the printer section. Can't stop it, can only kill it.
Summary
HardInfo hangs. Tried it several times, starts scanning on startup, hangs up when it reaches the printers section (no printer attached to the pc). Can't skip the option. Can't cancel the scanning either, it just keeps popping up with "Switch To" or "Retry". Waited for several minutes. Had to kill it each time.
