MvPCinfo collects information about a computer's hardware and software. It is compact, doesn't require installation on a workstation, and can be run from a disk drive, a network drive, or from a domain login script. It can work hidden, with no need to reboot. MvPCinfo allows you to perform an automatic, hidden inventory of a whole LAN in an easy-to-use manner. Specific information includes computer ID, model, manufacturer, service and asset tags, processor, BIOS, memory, CD-ROM, disks, video, sound, network, modem, motherboard, monitor, mouse, printers, IP, MAC, and e-mail addresses, shared and mapped devices, operating system, running processes, services, active TCP connections, Internet history, and installed licenses, and software.LAN and Port scanners, S.M.A.R.T reader and File Recovery tool are built-in.

I build and repair PC's in my basement and use this program to take a "snapshot" of a PC before I return it. I give the user an HTML version of the report and I keep the Excel version for my database. If a customer calls, I can instantly recall the hardware, software, firmware, etc. on their PC and talk intellegently to them about it. Several times it has been a true godsend. <p> <p>I paid the small LIFETIME reg fee years ago and promptly keep getting updates when they are made available. The software AND reports all bear my business name at the top. Nice touch.
Cons
Although it lets you save reports in MANY formats, I wish the actual layout was more flexible. (OK, this is pretty picky.)
