This suite of executables won't replace your office tools, but may prove useful in an emergency USB toolbox. There isn't a common interface for the collection of applications found in Floppy Office. They've merely been collected together and placed in a single ZIP file. None need installation, but most need to be unzipped and some require configuration before using. Obviously with apps this small, documentation is in short supply. However, most are simple enough even for novice users to quickly understand.

The highlight of this collection is TED, a Notepad replacement that is smaller and more fully featured than the Windows standard tool. Though more flexible, it is still a simple program to use. Kpad replaces Wordpad without adding much to the rich text editor. IFTP does a fair job as a FTP client; Eve is a vector graphics editor that won't see much use. Efficient and quick, RenameFiles could become the most used executable in the bunch. Other programs thrown into the mix are a basic Web server, a file encryption app, a too simple, but secure file-deletion utility, and a full-featured spreadsheet program.

No program in this collection of tools is the best on the freeware market, but many could prove useful when called upon. Novices to experts alike should at least give these apps a test.

Yes, it fits onto a floppy. But where, other than in the third world, do they still use floppies? This is 2008 we are in! <p>The so called image editor is useless, doesn't support common filetypes (asks for a *.eve file). The word processor is nothing but a wordpad equivalent. The notepad I have seen better ones such as metapad. as for the zip utility, ALzip is way better than any sip I've seen (even better than ZipGenius because isn't as budggy). What I'm getting at is that with a lot of searching, you can put together, yourself, such a suite, with much better elements, that you can put onto a small USB drive. <p>But of course what we want is such a suite to come pre-packaged for us, which is the idea behind this. <p>If you want REAL applications, Winizio is the answer. It has the nice applications from OpenOffice and AbiWord too, and fits onto a USB stick (or a CD ROM, and who doesn't have either one of those, these days?). But although <p>WinIzio is a much better usb suite, but the word processor installs in ITALIAN instead of the more universal and international english. So until they fix that stupid blunder, I can't recommend that either.
