  it does have an english version (just click on the us flag icon)

  Cons

  Installed babylon search toolbar and malware, which has caused no end of problems to remove.

  Summary

  just dont bother to install it!!!! the risks far outweigh the benefits. Just dont stick your head out and it wont get chopped off. PS i thought CNet has fixed the babylon problem but i guess not.

  Pros

  Allows another page to be scanned, scans to PDF without any watermarks or other trial like limitations. Allows you to scan two sided documents by flipping them over and scanning again. This software feature is NOT included in the $500 Brother MFC.

  Cons

  Windows7 64-bit install works fine had to create a desktop icon post install, then run the FreeScanner.exe icon in XP compatibility mode, then run as Administrator for FreeScanner.exe to start up. Limit of 25 scanned pages never had that many.

  Summary

  Free, works great replaces the commercial software we were using. Just use the Brother scanner MFC software for very large scan runs over 25 pages. More options and features than expected. Easily replaces the scanner software originally provided. Had tried the nuance PaperPortSE version from the Brother install CD which put a PDF trial watermark on all documents scanned to PDF. Note: Install process steps are in french but the program runs in English, not hard to hit next, next, next button in french during install anyway.

  Pros

  This little free French app.does everything that many more expensive scan to PDF can do. This excellent free application that downloads without viruses or adware

  Cons

  The only extra feature I would like to see would be a crop tool.

  There is nothing to complain about, this very well developed piece of scan to PDF software is absolutely free. For students like me who can't afford Acrobat Pro this application is a Godsend. Thank you to Documalis, your generosity, David

  None that I could see.

  Cons

  Simply would not run (on Vista Home Prem w/SP1). Did not cause a problem or an error message, but no window opened.

  Summary

  I installed this twice, at first for the current user only. With this option no program [launch] icon appeared anywhere on the computer - not on the desktop (which I opted for), not in the "All Programs" folder for Documalis that did get created, not in the Quick Launch area. Nonetheless Vista listed it among software that could be uninstalled - so I did that. Then I reinstallled using the "for all users" option. This time a launch icon did appear, in the "All Programs" folder for Documalis. This icon got the cursor twirling for a few seconds, but that's all. Nada. Zilch. Give me a break. ZERO stars.

  I have an Epson scanner with bulky and useless software over 200 Mb. I deleted all, except twain 5. This little software does the job very good. No hassel...That is what I was looking for.

  Downloaded and installed easily, and immediately recognized my scanners.

  Cons

  This program is riddled with problems. Installation and help files are only in French. It scanned right off, but all the other controls failed, including SAVE. Okay, so what now? My images scanned but I can't manipulate or save them. Help: C'est vous de la machi-bachi. Wonderful. Let's wait until the authors (1) make the program work and (2) apply a useful language to this.
