DJOBooks for Windows

If you want to keep detailed information on the books in your collection, or those you'd like to read or buy, DJOBooks offers an easy-to-use tool that lets you add everything from the ISBN to the cover art. If you're a book lover, this is a tool you'll find useful and easy to navigate.

DJOBooks comes in a ZIP file, but doesn't require installation. Just click on the executable file to launch it. The interface is plain, but clean and nicely organized. Sample books are preloaded and displayed in the main screen. A toolbar gives easy access to all major functions, including adding, editing, and deleting entries. Familiar graphics and tool tips make it easy to explore the toolbar options. Like Windows Explorer, you can change how each book is displayed. The default is a thumbnail image with title and author info., but you can lose the graphic and add more details like genre, rating, and ISBN. You can also sort the books by title, author, or other criteria with just a couple clicks. The option to pull information from the Web cuts down on manual data entry, and you can import and export lists, easily, but the tabbed screen to add, view, or edit book details is well organized if you do need to add a few books, manually, or want to edit a description pulled from the Web. The only option we couldn't find was a way to indicate whether or not we'd read the book or if it was on our to-read list.

If you have a large collection of books or just want to keep detailed information on books you love, DJOBooks is a streamlined tool that can help. The program is free, but doesn't inundate you with ads, a big bonus on top of its very good book cataloging capabilities.
