This simple, free utility sweeps garbage files from your computer, but Disc Broom doesn't do a thorough cleanup, nor does it provide user control over its inner workings. This self-executable program offers a dull interface with a few standard buttons for finding and removing junk files, but it's missing an option for customizing the type of files or specifying the drive or folder to look for. In our tests, scanning our 20GB hard drive took two to three minutes to complete, and resulted in only 800KB of junk files, which barely impressed us. We tested another cleanup utility for comparison, and it found more than 12MB of junk files. You can choose to completely delete junk files or just send them to the Recycle Bin, but the latter feature fails to function well. We also tried to perform a rescan and were still able to find some remnants found during the previous scanning process. Overall, Disc Broom fails to deliver, and there are a lot of competing, powerful disk-cleaning utilities that will totally rid your system of nuisance files.
