Although this basic educational program promises to teach young children basic colors, shapes, musical notes, and computer use, it doesn't live up to expectations. Children Learning Essentials includes a colorful and animated interface that offers three narrow categories: colors, shapes, and music. Unfortunately, the color selection is limited to black, white, red, yellow, and blue. Likewise, shapes are limited to circles, triangles, and squares and the only musical notes are F, A, and C. There also is an annoyingly loud clapping sound that plays after each correct answer. The biggest flaw in this program is the limited appeal for older children, but the reading requirements make it impossible for preschoolers to use without adult assistance. Parents small children might be attracted to the free trial, but the lack of features makes this program pale in comparison to similar educational applications.
My 4 year old completed everything this software had to offer in less than two minutes from loading to closing.
It has three modes:
Select the black, white, blue and red colours.
Select the circle, triangle, square.
Select the note c, then select the notes f.
For every one you select, a grating clapping sample is played.
Don't even bother downloading this.
Teach your child about music, colors, geometrical shapes, and how to use a computer. If you have a child aged 2-6, you can use this software to teach him/her basic music notation, basic colors, basic geometrical shapes and using a computer. When the correct answer is clicked the child will be rewarded by clapping, which will hook him/her to try harder.
