• Nice Choise for quick launching

  - In one item (link to something) you may launch files OR folders. - No possibility to save your hard-work-settings in case you reinstall Windows. - No update. If reinstall new version your hard-work-settings are gone.

  Summary

  - In one item (link to something) you may launch files OR folders. Not Both. And if you want to launch folders in one item you have to do a lot of work to set up any subfolders. But I did it and I'm happy. - No possibility to save your hard-work-settings in case you reinstall Windows. - No update. If reinstall new version your hard-work-settings are gone.

  Pros

  This is the ultimate launcher and nothing can be as PRO and as productive as this one.

  Cons

  not much UI tweaks Unable to edit icons in submenus because those are assigned to the object by default which is a good thing, but having an option to change default icon would be great.

• More Than Restores Quick Launch Bar In Windows 7

  Pros

  Allows docked and auto-hidden launch bar on any screen edge, even in Win 7. Excellent versatility in customization. Any application can be launched with one or two (at most) single mouse clicks.

  Cons

  Nothing worth mentioning.

  Summary

  I became accustomed to using a docked and auto-hidden quick launch bar with Windows 95. This was (and is) a very simple alternative to the ever more useless Window's Start Menu and was supported by all versions of Windows up until Windows 7, which for some stupid reason no longer does. The closest that Win 7 allows is to devote part of the task bar for Quick Launch, which is IMHO unacceptable. After searching CNET for something to replace this functionality, I came across Advanced Launcher. It does things slightly differently than Windows XP, but the method is logical, well documented and even allows for including drop-down menus. I realize that building fancy, animated Dock Lauchers is becoming all the rage and I may eventually build one of my own. However, this takes time to evolve an optimal Launcher. I would still recommend installing a simple launcher like this one as it requires no screen real estate, minimal resources and requires just a few hours to build a fully customized quick launch bar.

• Not very pretty but does exactly what it supposed to do

  Pros

  Simple, clean functionality. App does exactly what it says. Can choose the icons you want to use in a similar style as windows properties.

  Cons

  Looks too much like windows 2000 or 2003 server. Not a pretty app and cannot customize the look of the bar hardly at all.

  Summary

  For die hard windows fans this will be the app for you. It's easy to set up for the most part, using a windows explorer type option box. It's not too pretty as the app stays true to the windows 2000/server 2003 appearance. If you want something extremely customizable and pretty this isn't the launcher for you. If you want something functional and fairly quick to set up, give this launcher a try.

• Exceeded my expectations

  Pros

  The design and operation are straight forward and uncomplicated. The instructions and user's manual are excellent and easy to understand. Ultimately the application is attractive , simple and fast and occupies a small footprint (Less than 1.5 Mb)

  Cons

  There are limited options as to how and where the toolbars are laidout on the screen. Novice users may have a little difficulty finding the correct pathways and icon files.

  Summary

  Looks good, works great is fast and in my opinion is far better than most launchers that I have tried. I recommend it for the experienced system user and for those who want a no-nonsense launcher that still manages to be attractive.

  Pros

  Lightweight program with plenty of features for organization of shortcuts with pulldowns.

  Cons

  It would be nice if I could open a folder from the pulldown. You can only open documents or applications from the pulldowns, not folders.
