• Did not work on two different machines

  none - it was useless for me.

  Cons

  Bought it to merge volumes on HD, tried to do so on two Windows 7 machines, operation failed on with same error messages: " cannot copy compressed files". Spent house on line with tech support to no avail.

  Summary

  Since the functionality offered by the Disk Director is not indispensable, I would recommend to avoid the risk of being stuck with useless junk.

  When it works, it is fine.

  Cons

  Howeven, it frequently doesn't work. For example--it doesn't reognize my new HDD. Windows Explorer, Dir Opus, O&O Partition all see it, but Disk Director doesn't. I tried to send a message--but their system is programmed to advise that no more support is available for my product. So they have a bug--and there is no way to report it! It doesn't get any worse than this.

  Summary

  I was a Beta Tester for Acronis for years. They used to be very concerned about their product--today, they are simply protecting their income. As far as Disk Director is concerned my guess is that the Company has given up on it. There are now several much better alternative available.

• More Junk From Acronis

  Pros

  None. The interface is clear and intuitive, but it tells you things which simply are not true.

  Cons

  I have tried repeatedly to re-partition my hard disk. I get no error message and I am lead to believe the job has completed successfully. But it has not. The partition remains unchanged. Several go-rounds with "tech support" finally resulted in their offering me a different software package (i.e., no refunds!) and you can see my review of their equally incompetent "True Image Home 2012" product for what happened. Again, I'd give ZERO stars if I could!

  Summary

  Acronis is not a producer of functional and competent software. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

  Didn't recognise SATA III hard-disks , i thought was better than Acronis Disk Director 10 but I was wrong...

  Summary

  If you have money to throw out of the window just buy it people...

  Can detect numerous of operating systems

  Cons

  Unable to handle several important Linux operating systems Limited partition management (Opensource bases solutions still offer better support and easier handling)

  Summary

  I used disk director 10 with great pleasure and great frustration. Pleasure because of the ease it was able to detect operating systems and frustration because it was not able to. I wrote the support of Acronis about this problem in the past, without any response. Version 10 of disk director was unable to handle for instance Sabayon and Chakra Linux (and several others) if the bootloader was installed into the partition instead of the MBR. So it was only able to detect Sabayon if I installed Grub into the MBR. If I installed the bootloader into the partition the operating system was installed to it was unable to detect it. I tried over 60 different Linux systems out of Distrowatch.com and this problem occured on several occasions. So I decided to give 11 a try as Demo in order to prevent to waiste my money, and luckely I did. version 11 still has the same decease as version 10 which is very disappointing. Ok, the interface had a nice upgrade but if the system is still the same I do not see why I have to upgrade. Also for partition management opensource solutions such as Gparted or Parted Magic still perform much better (which I am still using despite having bought version10). Still no support for OpenBSD end NetBSD (shame on you) You have been warned.

  Pros

  Nothing, i become crazy trying to use this software, i was surfing CNET and when i saw the high rated of this ..... i just can't stop myself.

  Cons

  Only promises it makes nothing from what they are saying, maybe the guys before me are paid by Acronis , i buy it with another product from Acronis and i just throw my money out of the window.

  Summary

  You can't made partition (especially using the CD Recovery) as you want, the Boot Manager didn't work , Not supported Windows 7 , a lot of times trying to Boot from the Rescue CD my computer it was blocked by "misteriuos forces" , at the end I let it down and i buy some thing else, now i'm very happy !

  There is None for Win 7!

  Cons

  There is no update for Windows 7. In addition this program corrupts the Windows 7 boot loader which necessitates a system restore which you do not find out until it is too late since the install process includes a reboot...!

  Summary

  It is worse than a Virus for Win 7 systems since it is not caught by a scanner.

  This is a decent product, depending on the type of licence you purchased.

  Cons

  The customer support team is very strong in platitudes, however they apparently have very limited knowledge of the products they support. Acronis would be better served by bringing their support team back in-house.

  The features seemed very helpful and powerful . . . now if it actually works . . .

  Cons

  Extremely limited trial, won't allow you to test or see anything in action. With something as tricky as a partition and potentially deadly to your computer if done the wrong way, I wouldn't touch this with a 10 ft pole.

  Summary

  Even Microsoft has live trials for their product. Bottom line, if you can't try it out and see it in action, don't use it.
