What do you need to know about free software?
This download enables a video download add-on for your browser, but the bad news is it does so by altering your Windows Registry.
Video Download adds a tool to your Internet Explorer's context menu to simplify downloading from popular video Web sites. It couldn't be easier to operate; you simply click the Web page and select Download Video. A helper window pops up and searches the page code for the proper download link. A few seconds later, the download link appears in the helper box. You can then click the link to download as usual.
Your downloaded files are usually Flash files, and you'll need a separate viewer. Installing this utility is actually making a Registry change that adds a menu item to call code from a Web site. You can undo the change by removing the added Registry Key. Unlike many complicated utilities that attempt to download videos, this add-on is easy to use and helpful--and it works.
