  Summary

  Excellent book for learning the thai alphabet. It also covers the thai numbers and symbols as well as the tones in the thai language. It's put together very effectively, so that you will read it almost effortlessly in one hour, which is what I certainly wanted. I didnt want to be slaving over some text book for weeks, trying to learn the thai letters by rote. The book keeps it simple, and yet is very comprehensive. A friend who has lived in Thailand for 30 years, simply could not believe that I was able to learn the alphabet in just 1 day. He challenged me to recalling the letters sounds and classes and so on, and I got over 90% correct. He was really taken aback, as he had spent months trying to commit the thai symbols to memory! Having learnt the thai alphabet, has totally helped me in my day-to-day life in thailand, and now im able to relate to all the signage around the country, and slowly start learning new words by just walking around and reading the signs over shops and so on. It's really amazing how more at home I feel here, since I've broken the ice with the alphabet. Before I really felt like a complete alien, not being able to decipher any piece of written information. I can't recommend the book strongly enough. Even if you're on a short holiday, you'll totally blow some of the local thais away, if you show that you know the thai alphabet. My main interest is thai boxing, muay thai, and being able to recognise the thai letters has been a great step in appreciating the culture and artistic side of the sport. Highly Recommended!
