Duplicate files are easily flushed out with this application, though its stability proves problematic. Dismal in appearance, zsDuplicateHunter Professional's multipaned interface provides an easy-to-use tree-view list of folders. Hitting where its standard version misses, the program offers several options to narrow your searches using parameters and by applying filters to compare and seek out files by path, extension, and time attributes. You can easily track down duplicate files by file type, names, size, and contents. Impressively, this application also can search within ZIP archives and can include system and hidden files in the process. After a somewhat lengthy scan, the program listed all the duplicate files on our system and is able to automatically back them up prior to permanent deletion. We like that it will save scan sessions and results in HTML and XML formats for future use. The primary concern is the program's stability: during testing it locked up on more than one occasion, slowing every other program running, and ultimately forcing us to reboot our PC. Although zsDuplicate Hunter Professional's fervor is impressive, users won't be impressed by its instability.
