From FVDCS Inc. :pcSetup 2.0 is an upgrade to an existing set of drivers created by Apple Computer for their DOS and PC compatibility cards. The software provides operating system level functionality to the cards. The cards fit into a Power Macintosh computer slot (PDS or PCI models). The cards contain an Intel or AMD processor, memory and a video display chip. The cards share the monitor, keyboard, mouse, CD ROM drive, Ethernet card, monitor, hard drive and memory with the Macintosh. The software allows software sharing of the clipboard, the file system and the printer drivers. The Intel processor ranged from a 66Mhz 486 to a 200Mhz Pentium. Between 10,000 and 100,000 of these types of cards were sold. Apple created the cards in 1995 through to 1997. The driver software is called PC Setup. The last version supported by Apple was 1.6.4. Apple dropped future upgrade for the driver software for the cards during a major company re-organization in 1998. Due to resource shortages and determined higher priority needs, Apple moved the support team from the PC Setup maintenance and updates to other projects (USB). Apple did pursue support options for the card with Orange Micro, but a deal could not be reached.
