This suite of 21 system utilities effectively optimizes select system components. Jv16 Powertools 2007's clean program menu displays the 21 icons that open the suite's functions. Novice to intermediate users will need the extensive program manual, and even advanced users could learn a thing or two from it.
Still, even with the manual, operating most functions takes care and deliberation. Some are powerful tools that could disable system components. The app boasts automatic backups before major changes, but still warns users that a wrong move could have serious consequences. We found all the functions useful to some extent. Most operated on the Registry, file manipulation, or privacy components. None are the prime tools in their genre, but each performs more than adequately. The function interfaces are clean, easy-to-understand, and easy-to-operate. Each function requires user interaction. One great advantage of this app is that few items are automatic. The functions display options and recommendations, but leave implementation to the user. That works well for users who don't like giving up control.
The 30-day demo gives users more than enough time to test each of the functions in the suite. The program's power will appeal mainly to experienced users. However, this is a good app for others to study and learn about their systems.

"The registry cleaner makes the suite!"
Pros: JV16 Power Tools 2007 is the latest version of this Windows Optimization Suite & Registry Cleaning Toolkit developed by Macecraft Software in Finland. While it is indeed a suite of some twenty one different programs the star attraction in this software package without question is the registry cleaner, as it was a hit almost from it's inception. Over the years this brainchild of Jouni Vuorio has garnished rave reviews from experts and users alike, as it is both aggressive in cleaning out invalid registry entries and safe in not touching valid ones. This is the mark of real quality in this software type. While the other programs in the suite are solid enough it's the registry cleaner alone that compels me to cough up the $ 29.95 the suite costs.
Cons: Jv16 Power Tools is not one of the prettiest girls at the prom.....no, not even close. While Macecraft Software has made steady gains over the years to improve the "face" of this software the GUI still has a very utilitarian appearance that leaves much to be desired, even this newest version. The looks don't detract much from the quality software. Remember, even an ugly prom date can be lots of fun. ;-)

"Registry Cleaner not supported for 64 bit Vista"
Pros: I'd have put 5 stars if this review is for Win XP as I used this program on my Win XP system too. But some functionalities don't work as expected. Yes it did install without glitches in 64 bit Vista. As far as I can see, much functions work well but one, Registry Cleaner. As such, I don't dare to use any of its Registry functionalities, like Registry Compactor.
Cons: When I used the Registry Cleaner, it's kinda hanging and kept on scanning forever... It's not that I din wait for it to finish scanning, I waited for 1 hour more until I have to abort it! My Vista system doesn't have a lot of programs installed and certainly no reason for this. It's interesting to note that the same problems did happen for Registry Mechanic 7 (yes it's written Vista Not Supported, I just tested it out of curiosity) where it keeps on scanning nonstop on the value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Wow6432Node\Wow6432Node... ,where i couldn't see the rest of it. Yes it's 3 keys of Wow6432Node!, there are only 2 as a matter of fact, go check it on your regedit. And there are other software as well that don support registry scanning in Vista, but I tried it for fun to see how it works. They all work the same way: scanning nonstop in Vista 64 bit.
In conclusion, this software doesn't support Registry Cleaning in 64 bit vista.

Version: jv16 PowerTools 2007 1.7.0.399
Pros: Jv16 PowerTools (been using it for years) just got better and better and is the best choice for Registry Defrag and Clean, Uninstalling Software and removing its Registry Entries and generally cleaning up your whole system.
Its software uninstaller is insane and lets you delete all registry entries the app created AND afterwards deinstall the app via the apps uninstaller.
It has alot of options and can remove files/registry entries which you might not want, but you can always set the options (fe. "aggressive" "normal") and backup your settings before. You have to know what you are doing and it has a good documentation. It wont delete anything unless YOU tell it to.
On the side: I have been using the application for years now and am an experienced user and NEVER, ever had a single problem with any of its extensive functions, NEVER had to use a single backup.
The backup functions of this application are very good, so you can enable "auto backup" before anything you do and are totaly secure with that, without a popup window or anything.
It has alot of very very useful functions like deleting empty folders to clean up (fe. your empty song folders in your mp3 library) folders on your system and way more..
The application is coded for people who want to have full control and don't need to have a polished and kindergarten style interface. So if you have NO clue of windows, it might not be the right one to use, but its performance is unmatched so its worth looking at the documenation.
I myself find it very easy to use, and way better then similar applications, but when i think about ppl who have no clue of their windows system, yeah they might think differently.
Cons: - None, only if you don't know what you are doing, but thats your problem ;)

Version: jv16 PowerTools 2007 1.7.0.399
Pros: Easy installation; many powerful useful tools; lots of build-in backup and safety features; well documented.
Cons: User interface is "less than friendly" with icons that have little or no relevance to the function (what is 'File Tool' or 'Automation Tool') and requires hours of reading and experimentation to enable its full capabilities ; overpriced.
