"Nice idea but it seems 2B ugly port of a Windows app"
Version: jalada Collage 2.1.1
Pros
The idea seems great -- exactly what I was looking for. The price also what I was looking to spend. The templates are unoriginal but quite fun.
Cons
No iPhoto or Aperture support (what are they thinking? How can I get my photos into the document?)
The interface is pig-ugly and doesn't comply with the Apple user interface guidelines, which makes the whole thing counter-intuitive and annoying.Summary
60 minutes is not really long enough to trial the software. Give us 2 hours. Yes, we may complete a full project in that time without paying, but isn't that a good thing? Once we've published our project and we like it, we'll be inclined to upgrade
It's horrible. Try Comic Life or Comic Life Magiq instead. Or, quite frankly, Pages. Those products aren't as good as this one would be at making collages and a scrapbook / yearbook for your son's school (which is what I wanted it for) but at least you can import your photos from iPhoto. And you don't have to learn a Windows-inspired user interface which makes your Mac look ugly. Sigh.
