Although iTunes has always been one of the best pieces of jukebox software available, the company improved upon a great thing with version 7, which added enhanced video capabilities and new ways to view your music library.
A cleaned-up left sidebar makes finding your music and videos a snap and the new Album and Cover-Flow view options let you flip through CDs in style. The built-in video player accommodates both your own files and ones you buy at the iTunes Store; right-clicking a clip lets you render it iPod-compatible. With the addition of full-length movies at the iTunes Store (Music is no longer part of the name), you can now view near-DVD quality movies at a resolution of 640x480.
The experience of both purchasing and playing movies and videos is almost identical to performing the same actions with music, so seasoned users will have no trouble (with fast broadband, movies download in about a half hour). With iTunes version 7.2, the option to buy higher quality, more expensive songs with no DRM is a necessary nod towards where the industry is going, but we wonder how it will be received by users. All the features we love from past versions are still intact, including seamless iPod integration, smart playlists, CD burning, label printing, the ability to rip files in multiple formats (except WMA), network sharing, and, of course, the enormously successful iTunes Store. Rounding out the feature set are parental controls, integrated podcasts, and a smart-shuffle option. Whether you're already among the converted or have yet to try this top-notch player, iTunes 7 should find a home on any media junkie's computer.

Version: iTunes 7.4
Pros: V 7.4 requires XP and above. Manages to play music and video.
Cons: I don't understand why you have to import music manually. Can't prove it, but seems to mess around with the My Music folder.

Version: iTunes 7.4
"Best way to manage your library"
Pros: Hasn't crashed yet (for me anyway), works great with Vista, access to iTunes Store, fast cataloging and searching, party mode, playlists, CD burning, really "Free"--no "Pro" version to buy if you want lots of features
Cons: Delay at startup, bulky software (about 70MB overhead), doesn't support any mp3 players besides iPod (without extra software anyway)

Version: iTunes 7.4
"tanks! every update now duplicates my library. now 50gigs become 100gigs"
Pros: this is the giant. and yes i have an ipod,...and if it worked it would be sinced up quite nicely i suppose.
Cons: I have been in contact almost continuely with the itunes customer service staff. Remeber to back up your itunes library, if you should crash hard, or get infected (that would be me), and have to reformate, the new formating will be read as a new computer to authorize. And you are only allowed so many. so those of us with several computers are SOL. And I still am sick to death about having to click each file of my library to have it registar in the itunes library. Consolidating only makes it worse, not easier. So if you did back up your library, then you hit consolidate, all that happens is that files are copied to the right folder, but it doesn't show up in the music library of itunes until you actually click the file to play...and please don't think i haven't set my preferences in all manner of configurations to have it work out. When you have 50 gigs of music, you look for every possible way to avoid click by click to regain your playablity of your music. And itunes staff's response? reload the new version. Great now I have again duplicated my songs, and eaten up more hard drive space. How to rid yourself of duplications? click by click, But you have to open the folders individually, becuase they are often hidden there sitting side by side pretty as can be, eating up your hard drive space. It SUCKS, and i wish there was a viable alternative. But my purchases aren't playable elsewhere (so i have found,...here i might be wrong,...let's hope so)
