Publisher's description of iTunes for Windows 7.1.1
From Apple:iTunes, the award-winning digital-jukebox software, is now available for Mac and Windows. The iTunes Music Store offers Windows users the same online music store as Mac users, with the same music catalog, the same personal-use rights, and the same 99-cents-per-song pricing. With music from all five major music companies and more than 600 independent labels, the iTunes Music Store catalog now offers more than 1,000,000 songs. Features include a free download with no hidden charges for extra features, MP3 and pristine-quality AAC-encoding from audio CDs, smart playlists, more than 250 free Internet radio stations, and the ability to burn custom playlists to CDs and MP3 CDs, to burn content to DVDs to back up an entire music collection, and to share music via Rendezvous over any network, cross-platform.
Version 7 adds navigation by album covers with Cover Flow, backup features, Apple Software Update for Windows, and high-quality feature movies for preview and purchase. iTunes 7.1.1 addresses a stability issue and minor compatibility problems in iTunes 7.1

- "Audio? Video? iTunes can do it."
- Version reviewed: iTunes for Windows 7.1.1
Although iTunes has always been one of the best pieces of jukebox software available, the company improved upon a great thing with version 7, which added enhanced video capabilities and new ways to view your music library. A cleaned-up left sidebar makes finding your music and videos a snap and the new Album and Cover-Flow view options let you flip through CDs in style. The built-in video player accomodates both your own files and ones you buy at the iTunes Store; right-clicking a clip lets you render it iPod-compatible. With the addition of full-length movies at the iTunes Store (Music is no longer part of the name), you can now view near-DVD quality movies at a resolution of 640x480. The experience of both purchasing and playing movies and videos is almost identical to perfoming the same actions with music, so seasoned users will have no trouble (with fast broadband, movies download in about a half hour).
All the features we love from past versions are still intact, including seamless iPod integration, smart playlists, CD burning, label printing, the ability to rip files in multiple formats (except WMA), network sharing, and, of course, the enormously successful iTunes Store. Rounding out the feature set are parental controls, integrated podcasts, and a smart-shuffle option. Whether you're already among the converted or have yet to try this top-notch player, iTunes 7 should find a home on any media junkie's computer.

Version: iTunes for Windows 7.1.1
Pros: I've always liked iTunes. It's solid, never crashes, and the sound quality was good.
Cons: I find that music playback when running iTunes on Windows Vista is choppy at times. Not bad enough to not be able to listen to songs, but it's noticeable and it does it on every track. Every few seconds I would get a slight interruption in the song. Of course it could be due to the fact that I only have 1Gb of Ram on my system, which is the minimum system requirement for Vista Home Premium, though I had the same amount of Ram when using XP media center and didn't have that problem. I will be adding another 1Gb stick of Ram soon so I'll see how things pan out.

Version: iTunes for Windows 7.1.1
Pros: ipod integration? i guess....?
Cons: wow... SLOW! what made it so slow? is it sending info to apple or something? because its not doing much when its sitting on the task bar, yet it uses 50mb of ram in doing what?

Version: iTunes for Windows 7.1.1
"Unresolved Windows Playback Issues!"
Pros: Easy to use interface, spiffy new browsing options (jukebox style with album covers), hooked directly into the store.
Cons: On many Windows-based systems the playback stinks... think about a dirty record or maybe someone rubbing your speakers with steel wool. If they ever resolve the issue, it'll be a great player again. Other problem, uses a lot more resources than 6 AND once you upgrade to 7 it is very much a pain to roll back to 6 (your whole library is converted).

Version: iTunes for Windows 7.1.1
"Very good program and bundle. Needs more options and access to other stores."
Pros: Clean and simple interface. Organization mirrors WMP system. Flip album art system useful for visual minded people. Copy and burn system simple. Best sound equalizer currently available on media players.
Cons: Visualizer doesn't always match the mood of the music. Lacks some of the codecs that WMP 11 has. Ipod and Itunes locked to Itunes store only. Would like to see additional stores added. Limits Ipod to 1 and computers to 4. Would like to see multiple Ipod support added and computers bumped up to at least 5. Playback gets choppy in Vista. Itunes tends to be a sound resource hog, needs better support when other devices or programs use sound card or resources.
