Pros
Very well thought out user interface. Tabbed terminal sessions are a great idea! Very versatile and flexible.
Cons
Tests of previous versions using Per Lindberg and Thomas Dickey's vttest utility have shown some problems in a few areas. I haven't had a chance thoroughly to evaluate this latest version.

iTerm is great. 0.9.0 seem to have some beta issues though:
-arrow up, to get previous command, and delete sometimes results in that cursor moves up in the text above.
-home(fn+left arrow) sometimes works sometimes not (?). No big deal, ctrl+A always works.
-memory leakage; just closed iTerm and 500Mb RAM was released, can't be right..
It is still better than other terminals since multiple tabs are great.
Someone had written something about memory problems in the 8.2 version. Is there an older version without these bugs that run natively on intel macs? -

This is not there and I don't think it is worth wasting time on it.
Apples Terminal is pretty brainless but this one is a wannabe...
What has happened to my function keys...
Why can't you double click on a link ?
Why is it when I search on function keys in the help file it shows me three pages but none of them talk about function keys or function or keys ?
Perhaps when it comes out of Beta I'll try it again.

The latest version (as below, once you're over the initial shock of the metal tabs) looks very promising. The font rendering with antialiasing on is about the only thing that doesn't ring true: things are pretty murky with, say, Monaco.
I'm tempted (for the nth time, n large) to dump Terminal for iTerm: let's see how a week's trial goes... -

There is mention of some user customizability in the changes.log file accessible via the defaults command, but I can't find documentation. The developers have been very helpful and responsive over the years, and I applaud them for continuing to improve and release a great OS X application.
I have used iTerm for many hours every day for years now. I use it as least as much as my web browser and email program, and rely on it for unix-level scientific computational problems. So far it has been very stable and reliable. The last version had a few annoyances that I am hoping are now history. New features include redesigned tabs, which after my original shock, have grown on me (tabs haven't looked good on OS X since 10.2). You can tear them off and it creates a new terminal window. The text in the tab changes color to notify you when a process has completed (no more psycho-icon bouncing in the dock). Here are some customizations that others might find useful: -

ITerm is one of the first utils I install on any new installation.
As a *NIX SysAdmin I was used to other terminal-utils with tabs and I was delighted to find one for Mac OS X too.
Although the interface to setup profiles could be made more userfriendly it is sufficient. I am able to use bookmarks and shortcut for all of my systems with ease!
And you can't beat the price!
