CNET Editors' review
Complex operation coupled with poor instruction mar this browser replacement. InetAdviser's interface is a browser with too many toolbar buttons and pull-down menus. So many icons, options, and function could be learned if the program offered a learning wizard or decent manual. It has neither. The installation automatically loads and installs another of the publisher's programs, iNetFormFiller, but that program isn't reviewed here.
Rubics, bookmarks, image grabbers, translation tool, proxy manager, databases, desktops, and quick groups are just a few of the features this browser adds to standard Web site display. Trying to cram so much into the application left it bloated, confusing, and cluttered. The basic premise of the app is sound. While surfing, you create a personal, searchable database of images, bookmarks, and sites. However, our testers found the program's learning curve to be steep. Creating groups isn't as easy as with Firefox, but they're easier to manage. The image manager receives high marks. It greatly simplifies collecting, scoring, storing, and commenting on Web images. This one function wasn't enough to compensate for the other hard-to-learn options that iNetFormFiller has on offer.
Our testers reported that the program often warned that InetAdviser was occupying too much memory and could become unstable. Truly dedicated Web surfers looking to create personal surfing catalogs might find the learning curve surmountable, but most users will want to pass on this overly complex browser.
