Although there have been several shareware choices to copy songs from your iPod to your computer, the freeware field has been empty--until iDump came along.
A clean, spreadsheet-style layout displays all music from the iPod attached to your computer, and is narrowed to a playlist through a drop-down menu or a specific song search. Songs can be organized by everything from song name or artist to bit rate, year, or even location on the iPod. iDump displays the song's iPod path, cracking Apple's unusual file-saving protocol. A main window tab takes you to output options, and from there you simply choose your songs and hit copy. Clicking once on a song selects it, and there's also a smart feature that plays the song you've selected in iTunes. The app also clocks in at under 1MB, so it's small enough to live on your iPod. We'll let you figure out why thats a good thing.
The only drawback to iDump is that it doesn't automatically import the songs into iTunes once they've been copied to your hard drive. Thats a small quibble, though, compared to the usefulness that this app offers up for free.
Publisher's description
From CodersHole :This program will allow you to transfer your songs of your iPod to a PC. iDump does come wrapped in a installer but you can simply drop the .exe in the root directory on your iPod and run it from there. Connect you iPod and run iDump and you'll have access to all your songs, select the songs you want to transfer then pick a destination directory and how you would like your songs to be named. And then sit back and transfer all the selected songs to the PC.
Version Build 22 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Version: iDump Build 22
"Outstanding iPod program for PCs"
Pros: Does EXACTLY what it promises: transfers songs and playlists from your iPod to your computer, a great feature that Apple removed from iTunes some time ago. Works smoothly, intuitive, simple & attractive interface, tiny footprint and you can run it from your computer, your iPod or even a USB flash drive (it works, I've tried!). On top of that, it's free! Great piece of software. I've been using SharePod for awhile (another great program for iPods), but this program might surpass it.
Cons: Minor quibbles: unfortunate name (sounds funny), you can't Shift-Click on songs to select blocks of tracks at a time (instead having to select each individual song or all of them) and you can't transfer songs from your computer to your iPod (a la iTunes and SharePod). Also, the version on CNET is old; go to the publisher's website and download the most recent version (Build 22).

Version: iDump Build 22
"Works like a charm and easy as pie."
Pros: It works great. The interface is so simple I couldn't believe it!! It transfers the songs from my iPod to the computer faster than iTunes transfers them to my iPod. Maybe 100 songs in about 30 seconds. It is so easy, just click a few buttons and you're done!!! Simple as that. To me this software sounded too good to be true.... but amazingly it's not!!! You can also put the program on to your iPod so you won't have to download it to the computer. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Cons: Not being able to bring items such as the play count to the new computer, but this is a VERY MINOR FLAW.

"Amazing and VERY easy to use. NO LIMITS ON DOWNLOADS FOR THE TRIAL!"
Pros: Fast, easy to use, actually works. I downloaded about 20 trials from this site and most of them were limited, like 5 songs and you're trial is expired, but this is an amazing program with no limits and VERY easy to use.
Cons: Cons:
This should be on the first page instead of all those crap programs
