This mostly standard audio utility simply converts files and rips CDs, but it works without a hitch. dBpoweramp Music Converter has separate interfaces for extracting audio from discs and batch converting tunes. In our tests, the program showed good speed. It can even rip some protected audio CDs and includes a basic player.
It queries CD information from the Web and can automatically create subfolders and name tracks. To keep the download size small, it only includes MP3 (LAME) and WAV codecs, though you can easily download and install additional components from the publisher's site. Similar to other utilities in this genre, dBpowerAmp Music Converter lets you determine the audio quality of your new files, though it also offers an ample number of presets.
Also, unlike some competing programs, this demo will let you rip or transform as many files as you like for a full month. Most people who rip and convert audio files occasionally will find something to like about dBpowerAmp Music Converter, particularly novices.

CD Ripper rips as fast your drive is able. Secure Ripping (Error Free) is our forte: dBpoweramp is regarded as the securest of the secure, not surprising from the inventors of AccurateRip. Finally the icing on the cake: PerfectMeta uses 4 Internet metadata providers simultaneously, not just one premium, but two: All Media Guide and GD3, in addition to MusicBrainz and freedb, allowing any errors, such as spelling mistakes to be corrected.

Practically every audio type is supported, including mp3, mp4, m4a (iPod & iTunes), Windows Media Audio (WMA), Ogg Vorbis, AAC, Apple Lossless and FLAC (from Codec Central), multi-CPU encoding uses all available cores. A broad range of DSP effects including ReplayGain Normalization, Graphic EQ.
What's new in this version:
In version 13, CD Ripper is enhanced by the addition of 3 new meta data providers (GD3, MusicBrainz & TrackType), GD3 offers album art up to 500x500 pixels; these new providers allowed for the creation of PerfectMeta.More popular Rippers & Converting Software downloads

Version: dBpoweramp Music Converter 13
"They forgot the free updates."
Pros: The 13.x program is not nearly as efficient as the older 11.5, and given that they have gone back on their "free for life" pledge, it doesn't seem worth using.
BonkEnc is free and under the GPL and does the job very well, without charging for MP3 encoding. It handles FLAC, OGG, AAC and more. Given this, there is really no reason to fork out more money for dbpoweramp at all.
11.x was worth the effort, but 12.x and 13.x are simply not given all that has changed in the program and the licensing terms.
