Publisher's description of dBpowerAmp Music Converter 11.5
From Illustrate:Often called the Swiss army knife of audio, dMC can digitally rip sound from audio CDs to a multitude of formats. Convert from one format to another while preserving ID tags. Nearly every audio type is supported, including MP3, MP4, Windows Media Audio (WMA), OGG Vorbis, AAC, Monkey's Audio, and FLAC (with optional installs from Codec Central). Windows Explorer integration. Right-click convert to and pop-up information for audio files (such as bit rate and length). Record from LPs with auxiliary input. Version 11.5 updates MP3 decoder: freeform MP3 files supported, correct reading of all MP2 and MP1 files. Lame MP3 tag reading (will show profile used or encode in pop-up information). MP3 lame compression self converts incoming data to correct format (i.e. MP3 is only 2 channel, might be passing 6 channel audio) shouldn't now be possible to get an MP3 encoder to fail.

- Version reviewed: dBpowerAmp Music Converter 11.5
This mostly standard audio utility simply converts files and rips CDs, but it works without a hitch. dBpowerAmp Music Converter has separate interfaces for extracting audio from discs and batch converting tunes. In our tests, the program showed good speed. It can even rip some protected audio CDs and includes a basic player.
It queries CD information from the Web and can automatically create subfolders and name tracks. To keep the download size small, it only includes MP3 (LAME) and WAV codecs, though you can easily download and install additional components from the publisher's site. Similar to other utilities in this genre, dBpowerAmp Music Converter lets you determine the audio quality of your new files, though it also offers an ample number of presets.
Also, unlike some competing programs, this demo will let you rip or transform as many files as you like for a full month. Most people who rip and convert audio files occasionally will find something to like about dBpowerAmp Music Converter, particularly novices.

Version: dBpowerAmp Music Converter 11.5
Cons: I could not get the program to work properly.
When converting a file using a 48 bit rate it made it bigger.
I converted a file of 3179 kb and it converted it to 4574 kb.
There is no support for the program

Version: dBpowerAmp Music Converter 11.5
Pros: It did its job by converting to the different formats and conserving space...
Cons: LOST ALL QUALITY! I had a studio recorded track that I was trying to compress to put on a web page and it destroyed the sound of it. It sounded as though it was done on an 8-track recorder in a garage!

"Useless to convert audio files on my pc- Windows Media rips from- cds so?"
Pros: Rips from cds- ?useful duplication of what Windows Media Player does without dppoweramp converter
Cons: Slower than Windows Media when ripping from cds. When trying to convert audio files on my pc, dbpoweramp converter will not recognize any type of file except the type being converted to- lists only the converted to file type, so there is nothing
to choose from- a publicity trick because there is never a point where converting CANNOT be done.

"nice features, but not The-One"
Pros: very nice: the popup-infobox for music-files and explorer-integration. Just point the mouse on the file and you got all the infos you might want. Accurate Rip is also a very good feature.
Cons: MP3 support is not free (only 30 day trial), some codecs must be downloaded seperately.
For transcoding (conversion) I use The Godfather, its free and supports MP3 (free too ;)). For ripping EAC is still the best. So for me, there is no need to use this program. But as said, nice features.
