"USE CABOS INSTEAD"
Version: acqlite 0.4.2
Pros
good search results
Cons
Leaves your connection open and you'll get MANY requests to connect from other computers; even after quitting the app.
Summary
If you have Little Snitch installed on your system, launch this app and you'll see what I'm talking about. Had to block all incoming connection requests and then uninstalled Acqlite. Cabos is an alternative that hasn't given me the same issues.

search let alone download.
be trouble-shot as docs are even worse than Aquisition.
0.2.9 would not complile either.
I would advise a non-java-based app if possible. -
"Limewire vs Acqlite vs Poisoned vs Cabos"
Version: acqlite 0.2.9
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have used these four P2P software programs for about a year now running OSX Panther.
Acqlite: Is definitely the pick of the four. Finds what I want, downloads without any problems, resumes d/loads ok, doesn't crash, doesn't affect the performance of my Mac. Rating: 4.5/5.
Limewire: Does a good job of finding mp3's, however seriously affects the performance of my Mac. Freezes & crashes common, slows all functions. Spyware? Cannot recommend this application. Rating: 2/5.
Poisoned: Finds source material well. Possibly the fastest. Major problems with the giFT Daemon crashing. Erratic performance due to this. Have tried fixes on website & forums but still no solution. Has potential but not recommended at the moment. Rating: 3/5
Cabos: Pretty solid performer. Does a decent job of finding & downloading. Speed is ok. No effect on the performance of my iMac. Rating: 4/5

"works, but *always* crashes or hangs after a time"
Version: acqlite 0.2.9
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
i'm running Acqlite 0.2.9 on Mac OS X 10.4.7 on a dual 1GHz G4, but i've observed this behavior on previous versions of both OS & Acqlite: after a period of time with 75+ downloads pending, Acqlite will usually crash; sometimes instead it will hang in a state where only one (instead of 5) peers is listed, and while the interface is active, no downloads can be instigated or resumed; in this latter state, attempting to quit causes a hang with the normal quitting message displayed for hours
also, though my machine does *not* go to sleep, the display sleeps; often after waking the display Acqlite goes into an unusual pattern of fluctuating memory allocation (growing then shrinking by hundreds of MB) and lots of page faults slowing the system and hanging Acqlite temporarily; after anywhere from 30 secs to 10 minutes, it will recover and operate normall -
"Best of it's kind!"
Version: acqlite 0.2.8
Summary

Connects quickly and retrieves matches with lightning speed. Granted it does not find as many hits on the same search as Acquisition (for WHATEVER reason), but at the end of the day, I download everything I want and need with Acqlite with nary a nag nor disappointment! -
"Nice!"
Version: acqlite 0.2.8
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Excellent UI for the Gnutella network. Integrates very well with OS X, provides nice features to filter through search results, downloads quickly, and just makes it easy to search and download. I tried Cabos and came immediately back to acqlite.
I did have some problems with the application freezing (requiring a Force Quit) when I had a large number of downloads (1000+), but that's a minor issue that I can easily manage. -

"More peers"

I can't connect to more than 5 peers. In the previous version up to 30 peers. It was the best p2p app. -

Hi,
I posted this on the other major place too:
stay away from this app.
Up to 0.25 things were cool.
Then they became ugly.
Since 0.27 I receive tons of SPAM when searching
(porn all over),plus filtering does
NADA
My Mailaccount was hacked,too.
Whoever "took over" had bad things in mind,or sold his stakes.
instead go to:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/acqlite
and reload 0.25 or 0.26.
No more SPAM.
Someone sold out ;-((
