Along with its effective and easy-to-use firewall protection, ZoneAlarm with Antivirus adds virus features and security controls. The most notable improvement in this latest release is an enhanced triple-layer firewall, which now safeguards your machine's OS and Registry. ZoneAlarm's wizard makes configuring a firewall incredibly easy. Maintaining and updating settings also is a snap when using the application's stylish interface and its simple slider controls. Experts will appreciate options that let them set up custom rules. The program's Zones feature also allows you to assign different security levels for a local network and for the Internet. We found ZoneAlarm with Antivirus very good at recognizing and automatically including settings for our local network. In all our tests, the firewall guarded against all external and internal threats it encountered.
Beyond the firewall function, ZoneAlarm with Antivirus includes an antivirus scanner, based on Computer Associates' Vet Anti-Virus, that blocks both incoming and outgoing viruses. The most intriguing aspect of this feature is its Advanced Heuristic Detection algorithm, which uses behavior analysis to detect suspicious actions caused by brand-new viruses that haven't yet made it into the virus-definitions database. Though this version of ZoneAlarm lacks the privacy and identity features of the Pro version, users who are satisfied with their existing privacy-protection tools may find ZoneAlarm with Antivirus fits their needs.

Version: ZoneAlarm with Antivirus 5.5.094.000
Pros: I had 36 processes running when I had Norton AntiVirus 2005, but since I got this I get 27 processes. Norton really slowed down my PC, although I have a P4 HT 3.0GHz w/ 512 DDR400. And, maybe it was because of something else, but I think Norton slowed my internet connection. I used the Speed Test on bandwidthplace.com and got 1.1mbit with Norton, and 2mbit with ZoneAlarm. I did the tests repeatedly with the same results.
Cons: The antivirus isn't as powerful as the Norton Antivirus, I guess you have to sacrifice somethings. And I find the ZoneAlarm interface quite cluttered.

Version: ZoneAlarm with Antivirus 5.5.094.000
"i'm really glad i tried zonealarm!"
Pros: in my trial, zonealarm blocked a ton of intrusion attempts and treated 11 viruses. i love how easy it is to use, program control is awesome. now my problem is deciding whether to buy zonealarm with antivirus or upgrade to zonealarm pro.
Cons: only one. i wanted to use secretmaker to block a few more forms of advertising on the web, but it locked up my puter. secretmaker says it's zonealarm, but just to be clear, i myself have no idea why they don't seem to work together on my puter. i'm still going to buy a zonelabs firewall though and put secretmaker on hold for now.

Version: ZoneAlarm with Antivirus 5.5.094.000
Pros: Best of the other AVs I tried/used. Simple to download, set up and use. Uses very little resources. Doesn't interfer with my Windows XP with SP2. Great value.
Cons: Trial version has window that pops up at boot-up asking you to either buy or continue with trial.
